Job description
A global manufacturing and technology business is expanding its cybersecurity capability in Belfast and is hiring a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join a small, highly hands-on security engineering team supporting the organisation worldwide.
This is a technical, delivery-focused role for someone who enjoys building and improving security controls, taking ownership of tools and platforms, and seeing their work make a direct impact on the organisation's security posture.
This is not a SOC or pure incident response role. It is an engineering position focused on designing, deploying, configuring and improving security solutions across a hybrid on-prem and cloud environment.
The Opportunity
- You will join a lean security operations and engineering function responsible for selecting, implementing and maintaining the organisation's core security technologies. With a small team and a fast-moving business, there is a strong focus on practical delivery, continuous improvement and closing gaps that often remain in larger, more siloed environments.
- The role is based in Belfast, working closely with colleagues in the US and Europe, and supporting both corporate IT and manufacturing environments.
- What You'll Be Doing
- Deploying, configuring and improving security tools across endpoint, data protection, identity and cloud platforms.
- Identifying control gaps, researching solutions, running proof-of-concepts and leading implementations.
- Reviewing existing security controls and completing the "last mile" of configuration, optimisation and documentation.
- Working closely with architecture and cyber defence teams to ensure tools are properly integrated and operationalised.
- Providing security input into new business and manufacturing initiatives, ensuring controls are designed in from the start.
- Taking ownership of solutions rather than operating in a narrow, siloed function.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience in cybersecurity engineering or security operations (typically 5+ years).
- Proven experience deploying and configuring security platforms rather than only monitoring or responding to alerts.
- Solid understanding of endpoint security and endpoint management technologies.
- Experience working with data protection and data loss prevention controls.
- Working knowledge of SIEM and security monitoring platforms, including configuration and tuning.
- Good understanding of cloud security concepts within a hybrid environment.
- Experience working with identity and access management in an enterprise setting.
- Ability to work in small teams with a high level of autonomy and responsibility.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience across both on-prem and multi-cloud environments.
- Exposure to security architecture and solution design.
- Industry certifications (CISSP, Security+, etc.), though these are not essential.
Who This Role Suits
- A senior, hands-on security engineer who enjoys owning problems end-to-end.
- Someone coming from a less siloed environment where they have worked across multiple security domains.
- A self-starter who looks for gaps and improvements rather than waiting for tasks.
- An engineer who wants to progress towards architecture over time.
Benefits & conditions
- You will have real influence and ownership in a small, expert team rather than being one of many specialists.
- Immediate impact, with a clear pipeline of improvements and enhancements to deliver.
- Exposure to both enterprise IT and manufacturing environments, offering a varied technical landscape.
- Clear progression into architecture and broader security leadership roles as the function continues to evolve.
Working Model & Benefits
Hybrid working: 3 days per week on-site in Belfast.
Open to UK-based candidates willing to relocate.
Comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, pension and additional company benefits.

Who are we?
Muse Group began life as Ultimate Guitar, the largest online global community of musicians. Eugeny Naidenov founded Ultimate Guitar in 1998, with a dream to make it easy for guitarists to play songs by Guns ‘N’ Roses and his other favorite rockers. From there, the site grew from a plucky, tab-sharing trailblazer into a global leader of online music publishing.
In 2017, Ultimate Guitar acquired MuseScore, expanding its reach into sheet music. Muse Group has only continued to grow from there — and now includes Audacity, StaffPad and many more.
In 2023, Muse Group acquired Hal Leonard, the legendary global sheet music publishers, adding an unparalleled music catalog and educational expertise to the team.
Today, we are an international, visionary team of creatives, music lovers and audio obsessives, developing products we could not live without.
