Job description
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in analysing complex business problems and designing innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and enable delivery of our strategic goals. The role will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, high-performance solutions that enable the delivery of strategic goals for Student & Education division whilst ensuring technical standards and architectural best practice. The successful candidate will engage in a full range of solution design activities to produce comprehensive end-to-end solution designs and technical architectures that meet business requirements. They will support the implementation of new IT solutions or significant changes by improving, designing, and documenting technical integrations and supporting processes. The candidate will make recommendations that positively impact operational effectiveness and the design and implementation of IT systems:
- Support testing and validation of solutions to ensure quality and functionality meet business needs
- Analyse and evaluate existing systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvement and optimisation
- Develop and document architecture patterns, guidelines, and standards to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability
- Conduct technical assessments and provide insights on feasibility, risks, and challenges of proposed solutions.
This is a full-time post (40 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Solution architecture?, To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience, 1. Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, professionally qualified with a relevant degree/postgraduate qualification.

Strong knowledge and experience of digital products/ systems supporting student administration, including SITS (student records management), admissions, curriculum management, timetabling, and student placement systems

Good knowledge and capacity to adapt in the design/development/support of applications/systems/solutions in different domains

In-depth expertise of developing design and architectures for deployment in virtualised on-premises, cloud or hybrid environments, web development including CSS, JavaScript

Experience developing and supporting Tribal SITS eVision systems, using SRL and tasking

Good understanding of data and integration technologies (SQL scripts, StuTalk, APIs Message, etc.) including extensive demonstrable experience in the integration aspects of solution architecture using a variety of protocols and transport mechanisms

Experienced in understanding functional and non-functional product requirements

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders Desirable criteria

Extensive demonstrable experience in the production of solution architecture diagrams for a variety of audiences and providing multiple viewpoints

Good understanding of the full solution development lifecycle. Strong understanding of software development methodologies and frameworks, including Agile and DevOps practices

Appreciation of key issues within the HE sector (political, social, economic) and appreciation of how these forces drive technology requirements and solutions

Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and microservices architecture as familiarisation with RDBMS, Cloud computing, AI systems and data security, etc. There are a number of duties and responsibilities that we ask all employees to be familiar with and adhere to.
