James Fisher Renewables (JFR) is looking for a proactive Document Controller to oversee and continuously improve our robust document control system that underpins the success of our operations and projects.
In this key role, you will define, implement, and govern a structured approach to managing all Integrated Management System and project-specific documentation. Your work will support operational excellence, uphold compliance with internal standards and client requirements, and strengthen our commitment to delivering a superior customer experience.
In addition to traditional document control responsibilities, the role will champion the digitalisation of documentation processes across James Fisher Renewables.

The role can be based anywhere in the North West, predominantly at home, but would require occasional travel to our office in Bamber Bridge, Preston.
What you'll be doing:
- Audit all existing documentation to support the continuous improvement of a robust Document Management System (DMS) for James Fisher Renewables identifying enhancements and driving change initiatives.
- Ensure all contractual Document Control deliverables are met.
- Provide ongoing document control support across the Integrated Management System and project-specific activities.
- Register, control, and issue all project documentation through the DMS with a fully traceable audit trail.
- Ensure all documentation is properly checked, approved, and signed off by authorised personnel.
- Manage the structure and permission settings within the JFR SharePoint system.
Requirements
Do you have experience in SharePoint?, * Document control and administrative experience within an engineering environment, ideally in offshore wind, oil & gas, or the electrical power sector.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Experience using Electronic Document Management Systems (DMS).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to respond quickly to requests and expedite information efficiently.
- Auditing skills to verify document accuracy and compliance.
- Experience maintaining document history, version control, and authentication.
- Awareness of document security requirements and legal admissibility standards.
- Ability to report, track, and interpret data.
Desirable:
- Experience using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) to build automated workflows, digital forms, and process-driven solutions.
- Ability to translate operational requirements into digital tools, improving consistency, traceability, and auditability in document workflows.
- Experience designing structured technical document templates.
- Possess an understanding of typographic rules and best practices.
