Job description
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Cloud Engineer (L2-L3 IT Customer support) to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and supporting IT infrastructure, including user hardware and software support, managing user permissions in Microsoft Entra ID and Office 365 Admin Center, and handling day-to-day IT tasks through a ticketing system. Additionally, this role requires advanced skills in administering Azure resources, performing cost analysis and optimization, and configuring and managing the company's network solutions. This position is perfect for someone with a strategic approach to IT operations and a passion for optimizing technology environments.
Fortegra operates under a shared-services model. As part of this arrangement, the role will deliver specialised technical services to other legal entities within the Fortegra Group (including the US, UK, and CEE), where appropriate. Project allocation will be prioritised and scheduled to ensure smooth operation across the entities.
Key Responsibilities:

Azure Resource Administration:
-
Provision, configure, and manage Azure resources, including virtual machines, storage accounts, networks, and databases.

Monitor and analyse resource usage, performance, and costs, and implement optimization strategies to ensure efficient and cost-effective cloud operations.

Manage and review Azure resource permissions and access logs to maintain security and compliance.

Develop and maintain documentation related to Azure configurations, policies, and procedures.

Azure Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Administration:
-
Administer and maintain the Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environment, including provisioning virtual desktops, managing user access, and ensuring optimal performance.

Monitor the Azure VDI infrastructure, including resource utilization, user sessions, and performance metrics.

Troubleshoot and resolve VDI-related issues, ensuring a seamless user experience.

Perform regular updates and maintenance of the Azure VDI solution, ensuring compliance with security policies and best practices.

User Support and Hardware/Software Management:
-
Troubleshoot complex user issues and coordinate with external vendors for advanced support.

Mentor junior IT staff in resolving issues and maintaining a high level of service.

User Permissions and Access Management:
-
Administer and maintain user accounts, permissions, and groups within Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) and Office 365 Admin Center.

Monitor, audit, and manage security settings, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. SOX, NIST, DORA, etc.

Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, including the creation, modification, and deactivation of user accounts.

Implement and enforce multi-factor authentication (MFA) and other security measures to protect company resources.

Ticketing System Management and BAU (Business-As-Usual) Tasks:

Oversee the IT ticketing system to ensure that all requests are addressed promptly and within established service level agreements (SLAs).

Lead the team in resolving complex or high-priority issues and escalations.

Ensure documentation of resolutions and procedures is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible for future reference.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to IT policy and procedure development.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Terraform?, * Proven experience in IT administration with a focus on both user support and infrastructure management.
- Familiar with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), Office 365 Admin Center, and Advanced on Azure resource administration.
- Strong experience in managing and optimizing Azure resources, including cost analysis and permissions management.
- Solid understanding of IT security best practices and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Skills:
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.
- Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a strategic mindset.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Core Azure Services: Virtual Machines, Azure Networking (VNet, NSG), Storage Accounts, and EntraID
- Platform Services: Azure App Services, Functions, and Logic Apps
- Data & Integration: Azure SQL Database, MySQL and cache services Redis.
- Security & Governance: Azure Key Vault, RBAC, and Policy Management
- Infrastructure as Code: ARM Templates or Bicep, and familiarity with Terraform, YML/JSON
- Architectural Insight: Ability to design and document scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud environments
- On-Prem networking - DHCP, IP troubleshooting
