Job description

We're looking for a Web Developer with a strong focus on WordPress design and development to join our team.

You'll be responsible for designing, building and maintaining high-quality websites - primarily in WordPress - while working closely with designers, project managers and clients. Experience with other CMS platforms is welcome, with Magento experience a strong bonus.

You'll also be encouraged to use AI tools (e.g. for development assistance, testing, content structuring, documentation, and workflow automation) to help you work more efficiently and consistently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop bespoke WordPress websites from concept to launch
  • Build responsive, accessible and performance-optimised websites
  • Work with page builders (e.g. Elementor / Divi) and custom theme development where appropriate
  • Implement plugins, custom post types, ACF and third-party integrations
  • Maintain, update and troubleshoot existing client websites
  • Collaborate with designers to accurately implement UI/UX designs
  • Ensure best practice across security, SEO, accessibility and performance
  • Use AI-assisted tools to improve productivity, quality control and problem-solving
  • Support occasional work on other CMS platforms (e.g. Magento, WooCommerce, headless CMS)
  • Assist with hosting, migrations and deployments where required

Requirements

Do you have experience in WordPress?, * Strong hands-on experience with WordPress development

  • Good working knowledge of:
  • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
  • PHP (WordPress-specific)
  • Experience building responsive, cross-browser websites
  • Familiarity with Git / version control
  • Understanding of performance optimisation, security and SEO fundamentals
  • Comfortable working independently across multiple projects
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in clean, maintainable builds

Desirable (Bonus) Skills

  • Experience with Magento (especially Magento 2)
  • WooCommerce customisation
  • Custom plugin development
  • Experience with other CMS or frameworks
  • Familiarity with hosting environments (cPanel, WP Engine, AWS, etc.)
  • Accessibility (WCAG) knowledge
  • Experience using AI tools for development, testing, documentation or automation

What We're Looking For

  • A practical developer who enjoys building things properly
  • Someone curious about AI and automation and open to new ways of working
  • A clear communicator who can work well within a small, collaborative team
  • Comfortable balancing speed with quality (and knowing when each matters)

Benefits & conditions

What We Offer

  • Flexible working (remote / hybrid)
  • Interesting, purpose-led client projects (especially charities)
  • A supportive, non-ego team culture
  • Freedom to use AI tools to improve how you work
  • Opportunities to grow into more complex builds, integrations and platforms
  • Competitive salary depending on experience

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: £24,420.00-£32,000.00 per year
