Job description
As a Risk Information Technician working with us, you will play a vital role in ensuring the Service holds current, accurate records of risks that impact our operations across the counties of Devon and Somerset - helping to keep our operational crews, and the communities we serve safe., * To transfer and amend, where appropriate, version-controlled data into standard templates to formulate site specific risk information.
- To produce and/or amend version controlled floor, site and location plans for premises to supplement site specific information.
- To us (GIS) Mapping and other relevant software, produce and/or amend maps to supplement site specific risk information.
- To save version controlled risk information plans in the correct formats and into the required databases to enable uploading onto Mobile Data Terminals.
- To update and amend operational risk information plans in line with defined re-inspection programmes.
- To attend site visits with Inspecting Officers, as and when required, to assist with the production of single line building plans.
- To communicate with personnel responsible for the collation of site specific risk information to provide advice as required.
- To upload completed site specific risk information electronically into the CFRMIS database.
- To support the ongoing development of the operational risk information and plan drawing systems.
- To produce plans for fire safety enforcement and prosecution as required.
- To produce plans for accident investigation purposes as required., Fire and Rescue Authority roles are listed in Schedule 1 of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order and as such it is our policy to require all applicants to disclose any criminal convictions (both spent and unspent) including driving offences, cautions and reprimands.
This role will require a Standard DBS check to be completed.

Requirements
- Proven administration and time management skills
- Good written, verbal communication and numerical skills
- Experience of maintaining, designing and creating AutoCAD plans.
- Proven experience in the use of ICT programmes (Microsoft, in house - similar software)
- Experience in the use of GIS programmes.
- A commitment to continuous improvement.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Risk Information Technician to join our Response and Specialist Capabilities Department. The work location for this role is flexible, but you will need to base yourself at one of our locations throughout Devon or Somerset. This is an opportunity for a permanent position working full-time (37 hours per week) and offers a competitive salary starting at £29,540 (gross) per annum rising annually to £32,061 (gross) per annum at the top of the salary grade.
