Job description

GitHub is expanding its Corporate Solutions Engineering team and we're seeking experienced professionals to enhance our pre-sales support of our corporate customers. As a Solutions Engineer, you'll align technology solutions with customer needs and serve as a trusted advisor.

The ideal candidate will be a key partner in driving technology adoption and integration, helping customers maximize GitHub's value while gaining hands-on experience in solving complex technical challenges, deepening industry expertise, and influencing strategic decision-making.

Internally, collaborates with sales and product development to identify, design, and communicate solutions to meet customers' business needs. This person acts as a partner for the sales teams, collaborates with our front-line technical support team, and other functional departments within the company.

Responsibilities Customer and Industry Insights

Learns to use knowledge in various business and industry insights, global best practices, experience/case studies with countries and/or regions, and industry expertise related to customers and their competitors. May identify opportunities for growth and adoption while developing recommendations for Account Strategy.

Learns to identify customer business requirements and match them to product features that align closely with customer digital transformation initiatives, ensuring that the technology provided meets their specific needs. Learns to challenge customers' assumptions with constructive dialogue about their business and technology. Works with customer and/or partners to provide innovative solutions in new industries and to integrate GitHub technology in their business. Understands the unique requirements of each customer in order to collect feedback to enhance the customer's experience with GitHub solutions. Trusted Advisor

Leverages account information technology (IT), industry, and business strategy to provide coaching to internal GitHub teams on customer technology profiles and strategies. May provide technical guidance to internal teams to position technology while using customer landscape knowledge. Advises customer technical decision maker and business decision maker stakeholders on the benefits of embedding DevSecOps throughout their technology landscape through GitHub platform narratives. Supports technology deployments, ensuring that customer expectations are met or exceeded. Helps translate complex technical concepts into clear, understandable, and actionable language for diverse audiences. Contributes to the delivery of regular industry/technology engagements and/or briefings to customers and their technical teams to drive execution and focus on competitive advantage.

Builds knowledge of GitHub's product landscape, solutions, and strategy in the customer's industry, as well as of business priorities and potential threats the customers face. Acquires the ability of developing solutions that bridge existing product gaps (e.g., GitHub apps, Actions) and enabling the wider organization through knowledge sharing sessions and environments (e.g., demo environments/frameworks). Coordinates with internal industry experts (e.g., Regional Experts) to gather data on customer's industry and improves planning. Supports customer technology engagement by motivating and inspiring technical resources of customer, partner, and GitHub towards customer's desired transformation.

With guidance, acts as the voice of the customer and internal advocate by providing feedback and challenges from the customer to internal teams (e.g., product groups, engineers). Escalates pressing issues for customers to GitHub internal stakeholders (e.g., Headquarters) to provide the appropriate solutions for the customer. Technology Strategy Formulation

Provides basic analysis of overall customer situation and advises internal teams on gaps that would benefit from GitHub solutions, using a growing understanding of the business strategies and outcomes that technology can support, while relying on the expertise of others. Gains ability to act as a strategic link between GitHub and the customer for identifying a pathway in strategic efforts and identifying resources necessary for building a strategy.

Helps coordinate efforts to resolve any blockers to solution implementation. Supports the creation of technological and business roadmaps for an account. Plays an important role in partner sell-with scenarios (if applicable), working collaboratively to scale solutions through partner channels. Customer Enablement

Uses existing readiness resources to support enablement plans for customer technology adoption. Supports customer skilling initiatives and execution in collaboration with relevant internal teams (e.g., Marketing). Answers basic GitHub product questions and helps customers integrate GitHub with their existing development tools and workflows. Helps provide live demonstration of GitHub platform to customers. Articulates the value and applicability of GitHub solutions or products in various use cases. Explains how GitHub solutions fit in with the existing customer environment and makes appropriate recommendations. Marketing

Helps prepare content for marketing events. Under guidance, assembles materials for distribution during events. Acts as a liaison for customers. Sales Partnership

Helps identify customer issues and may suggest possible solutions. Supports efforts of technical teams to solve technical challenges and pain points, as necessary. Helps conduct proofs of concept (pre-sales) or demos products (post-sales).

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in technical consulting, technical consultative selling, or related technical/sales/industry experience

o OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in technical consulting, technical consultative selling, or related technical/sales/industry experience

o OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in technical consulting, technical consultative selling, or related technical/sales/industry experience

o OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years experience in technical consulting, technical consultative selling, or related technical/sales/industry experience

o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in technical consulting, technical consultative selling, or related technical/sales/industry experience
