Job description

We are a full-service digital partner looking to expand our IT team with the recruitment of an IT Support Engineer.

This role sits within our IT function and works under the IT Manager to support both our internal teams and our client-facing technical services. You will play a key role in keeping our systems secure, reliable and well-run, while helping us continue to mature our IT operations as the business grows.

You will be comfortable working across a varied technical environment, with strong hands-on experience supporting Linux-based systems. You will balance day-to-day operational support with planned improvement work, taking ownership of issues through to resolution.

The role:

As an IT Support Engineer, you will support the delivery and maintenance of our internal IT estate and a range of client-facing infrastructure services.

You will work closely with the IT Manager, the Network Infrastructure Manager and wider technical teams to ensure systems are maintained, issues are resolved efficiently, and operational standards are consistently met. The role involves a mix of first and second-line support, infrastructure maintenance, and security-related work.

Core responsibilities

You will take ownership of operational IT tasks and escalations, working closely with the IT Manager and Network Infrastructure Manager on priorities, standards and continuous improvement.

  • Providing first line IT support.
  • Operating, maintaining and patching Linux-based servers.
  • Supporting and maintaining Azure-hosted infrastructure.
  • Investigating, resolving and documenting issues across client-facing and internal IT systems.
  • Managing core hosting services including DNS, SSL certificates and backups.
  • Managing hardware, software, user accounts and device lifecycles, including onboarding and offboarding
  • Supporting security activities, vulnerability remediation and ongoing improvements aligned with our IT roadmap., * Regular 121s - Our line managers and Employee Experience Manager host regular check-ins to discuss progress and development, making sure you are supported throughout your journey at Spindogs.

Requirements

Do you have experience in SSL?, * Hands-on experience working with Linux-based systems in an operational or support-focused role, with confidence using the command line to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve issues.

  • Experience managing Linux hosting environments, including familiarity with hosting control panels such as Plesk, KeyHelp or cPanel.
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 environments, including user management, device management and exposure to MDM solutions.
  • A good working understanding of network fundamentals, including IP networking, DNS and internet routing.
  • Experience supporting both internal users and client-facing systems in a structured IT environment.
  • An understanding of the importance of taking issues through to resolution, including clear documentation and ticket updates.
  • A proactive and methodical approach to problem solving, with the confidence to escalate when appropriate.
  • A willingness to learn, develop and deepen your understanding of our infrastructure, platforms and internal processes.
