Job description
At Morrisons, we aren't just selling groceries; we are building a world class digital ecosystem. We're looking for a Technology Specialist to join us and help define how we build software, ensuring our systems are secure, scalable, and resilient by design.
As the Technology Specialist - Site Reliability Engineer, you will own our Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). You'll collaborate with Technical Architects and Lead Developers to document and drive the engineering standards that power our entire business. You are the technical "glue" across multiple domains, ensuring that what we design on paper is exactly what gets built in code. What You'll Do
- Partner with architects to set the gold standard for Morrisons Software Engineering and SDLC principles.
- Act as the technical authority for multiple domain teams, providing low level design expertise and ensuring architectural integrity.
- Drive a "build-test-deploy-destroy-rebuild" philosophy through a robust, automated CI/CD platform.
- Champion secure coding practices and application networking standards from day one.
- Work closely with our Supplier Engineering teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement and high standard adoption.
- Maintain the tools, processes, and infrastructure "ways of working" that turn our tech strategy into a reality.
- Maintaining AWS/OCI cloud infrastructure environments ensures standards and high availability at all times.
- Enhancing application uptime with observability best practices and maturity.
- Maintaining Cloud backups and restoration.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Software development?, We're looking for a seasoned technical specialist who thrives at the intersection of architecture and implementation. You don't just understand how a system should look; you understand exactly how it should be built, secured, and maintained. Your approach is defined by:
- A deep seated expertise in low level design, with the ability to ensure that the "built architecture" remains strictly aligned with the vision of the Technical Architects.
- A strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle, possessing the experience to define, document, and champion engineering standards that others follow.
- An "automate" mindset, specifically regarding CI/CD platforms where the cycle of "build-test-deploy-destroy-rebuild" is second nature.
- A natural inclination toward secure coding and application networking, ensuring safety is embedded into the construction process rather than bolted on at the end.
- The communication skills to act as a technical lead across multiple domains and the ability to drive standard adoption among third-party supplier engineering teams.
