Job description
EPAM is seeking a Senior Solution Architect with deep Open Banking expertise to support one of our major Financial Services clients as they expand their Open Banking Solution Architecture capability. This role will play a key part in delivering both business-as-usual and industry-driven initiatives throughout 2026, including VRP+ and Open Banking v4.0.
You will have proven experience designing, governing and evolving API-led Open Banking ecosystems within highly regulated financial services environments. The role combines hands-on solution architecture with enterprise-level architectural thinking, shaping both near-term delivery and the long-term strategic direction of our client's UK Open Banking estate.

Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to Financial Services clients, guiding senior business and technology stakeholders through Open Banking, Payments and regulatory-driven transformation initiatives
- Lead the architecture and solution design of Open Banking capabilities, including AIS, PIS, VRP and VRP+, from early strategy through to delivery and operationalisation
- Partner with client teams to translate regulatory and scheme requirements into scalable, secure and commercially viable technical solutions
- Define target-state and transition architectures across customer channels, Open Banking platforms, core banking and payments execution systems
- Shape and govern API and security architectures, ensuring alignment with Open Banking, FAPI and regulatory technical standards
- Collaborate with EPAM delivery, engineering, and platform teams to ensure architectural intent is maintained throughout implementation
- Contribute to pre-sales and client proposals, including solution shaping, architectural narratives, estimates and delivery approaches
- Produce and maintain high-quality architectural artefacts, standards and design documentation to support governance and delivery assurance
- Identify architectural risks, dependencies and constraints, proactively advising on mitigation strategies across complex client environments
- Stay abreast of industry, regulatory and technology trends, supporting EPAM thought leadership and helping clients prepare for future Open Banking and payments evolution
Requirements
Do you have experience in Solution architecture?, Do you have a Master's degree?, * Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields or relevant professional experience
- Proven experience operating as a Solution Architect, ideally within consulting or technology services environments, delivering Open Banking solutions under UK Open Banking/OBIE standards
- Deep expertise across AIS, PIS, VRP (including VRP+), consent models, customer journeys and third-party ecosystem interactions, with the ability to advise clients on both design and implementation choices
- Strong hands-on experience interpreting and applying Open Banking specifications, profiles and implementation guidance, including Open Banking v4.0 and evolving regulatory roadmaps
- Ability to advise senior client stakeholders on regulatory obligations, customer protection, dispute handling and operational considerations, translating regulation into pragmatic, scalable solutions
- Demonstrated experience designing and reviewing Variable Recurring Payments architectures, including consent scopes, limits, schedules, controls and scheme interaction models
- Expertise in API, security and standards-based architecture, including RESTful API design, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, mutual TLS, certificate management, FAPI and consent-driven access control
- Proven capability to define end-to-end solution and target-state architectures across channels, Open Banking platforms, core banking and payments execution systems, aligned to client strategy and regulatory evolution
- Strong consulting skills, including the ability to produce clear architectural artefacts, govern designs through delivery, and balance compliance, customer experience, delivery constraints and long-term transformation goals
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a delivery-focused, pragmatic mindset, comfortable operating independently across complex, fast-moving client environments
