Location: UK (Remote / Hybrid)Clearance: BPSS required, SC eligible or preferredSalary - 48k-55k paRole OverviewWe are looking for a Senior Performance Tester to deliver hands-on load and performance testing across large-scale digital services and backend applications, with experience of working with cloud-based distributed services.This is a technical, delivery-focused role operating in structured and governed environments where performance, resilience, and scalability are critical to service success.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and execute load, stress, volume, soak, and scalability testsAnalyse performance results, logs, and system metrics to identify bottlenecksGather and Validate performance NFRs, volumetrics, and capacity assumptionsPrepare and maintain performance test scripts and execution runbooksExecute tests in cloud-hosted (AWS) non-production environmentsRaise performance defects with clear technical evidenceSupport CI/CD integration for performance testing where requiredContribute to test reports, defect triage, and test completion evidenceWork closely with developers, architects, platform, and operations teamsEssential Skills & ExperienceStrong experience in performance testing of enterprise systemsHands-on delivery using tools such as JMeter, Gatling, LoadRunner, k6 (or equivalent)Solid understanding of:APIs, HTTP, databases, messaging, cachingBackend and distributed system performance characteristicsExperience analysing logs and monitoring dataFamiliarity with Agile and hybrid delivery modelsExperience working in regulated or high-assurance environmentsDesirableExperience with APM tools (e.g. Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Elastic Search with Kibana/Grafana across digital services)Public-sector or large programme delivery experienceFamiliarity with GDSScope & AccountabilityResponsible for hands-on performance test design and executionOwns quality and accuracy of assigned test artefacts and resultsContributes analysis and recommendations but does not hold final assurance authorityWorks under the direction of a Lead Performance Tester or Test ManagerAccountable for timely delivery of agreed performance testing activities
