Job description
We are hiring a Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer to design, support and improve secure, resilient Cisco-based network infrastructure across data centre and enterprise environments. This role is hands-on (routing/switching, troubleshooting, implementation) and also requires strong stakeholder engagement/outreach-working across teams to drive standards, reduce risk, and deliver reliable services. Key Responsibilities
Cisco Network Engineering
- Design, implement and support Cisco LAN/WAN/WLAN infrastructure in production environments.
- Configure and troubleshoot routing/switching and core services (eg, VLANs, ACLs, NAT, DNS/DHCP, IP Addressing).
- Deliver resilient/HA designs and improvements (capacity planning, performance tuning, life cycle upgrades).
- Own high-severity incident troubleshooting and root-cause analysis; produce clear fixes and preventative actions.
Data Centre & Infrastructure
- Support and enhance data-centre network/infrastructure (rack/stack coordination, cabling standards, patching, cross-connects, uplinks, resilience).
- Work with compute/storage/platform teams to ensure stable end-to-end service delivery across physical and virtual estates.
- Contribute to operational best practice: documentation, change control, maintenance windows, and service improvements.
VMware (Virtualisation)
- Provide strong operational support for VMware environments (vSphere/ESXi/vCenter).
- Troubleshoot issues spanning virtual networking and physical networking, including performance and connectivity bottlenecks.
- Support cluster operations (HA/DRS concepts, upgrades, templates, patching coordination).
Outreach/Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong working relationships across Infrastructure, Service Desk, Security and Delivery teams.
- Translate technical issues into clear business impact and actions for non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and raise standards around documentation, handover quality and engineering discipline.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Network/Infrastructure Engineer in an enterprise environment.
- Strong Cisco background (core routing/switching and enterprise troubleshooting).
- Solid data centre experience supporting business-critical infrastructure.
- Strong VMware knowledge (vSphere/ESXi/vCenter) and ability to troubleshoot across virtual + physical layers.
- Comfortable owning incidents, changes and improvements end-to-end with excellent communication skills.
- Able to work independently, prioritise effectively, and engage stakeholders proactively.
Desirable/Nice to Have
- Firewall/security networking experience (Cisco ASA/Firepower, Palo Alto, Fortinet, etc.).
- WAN/SD-WAN exposure and multi-site connectivity patterns.
- Monitoring tooling (SNMP/NetFlow/syslog), packet capture, and performance analysis.
- Automation/Scripting (Python, PowerShell, Ansible/Terraform) and documentation mindset.
- Relevant certifications (CCNP, CCIE, VMware VCP) - not required.
