Job description

Ashurst Risk Advisory was created to respond to client demand and is designed to provide risk expertise that complements Ashurst's core legal services. With dedicated teams of legal and risk professionals working side by side, it brings together the technical expertise and critical thinking required to operationalise laws and regulations and help clients to achieve their goals. After successfully establishing the division in Australia in 2020, we launched our UK practice in October 2022 as part of our continued growth journey.

We provide the opportunity to be part of this exciting growth story, working with an expertise-led team that has been consistently growing since its inception, and is dedicated to collaboration, diversity, transparency, and innovation. Our vision is to create a unique culture in the consulting market based around a flat, collaborative structure that offers everyone the opportunity to work closely with Directors, Partners, and clients on engagements. This means you have on the job training with your leaders, direct involvement with business development, clear recognition for your performance, and greater career opportunities., We support our clients by working in close collaboration with our legal counterparts, and teams across the Risk Advisory practice, to focus on how data can be harnessed to deliver a best-in-class legal-led advisory service. We combine our AI, analytics, data management and data governance expertise to design and deliver data-driven legal and risk management solutions across a vast array of domains including forensics, investigations, AI, privacy, cybersecurity, regulation, and financial crime to name just a few.

In this role, you will:

  • Modelling and advanced analytics, through leveraging strategic data assets and codifying business and regulatory rules to uncover, interpret, and communicate patterns in data, to drive business value and manage risk.
  • Designing and developing data visualisation and reporting solutions, to facilitate legal and risk insights in investigations, disputes, regulatory breaches and more.
  • Designing, implementing, and embedding data risk management and governance frameworks to demonstrate compliance to data management obligations and the adequate management of data risk.
  • AI governance framework design and implementation, and documentation and operationalisation of AI policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Performing data discovery and profiling exercises to inform legal and risk strategies, for example in the context of a large cyber breach.

Requirements

  • 1-4 years' experience in data governance, data management, analytics, or AI, ideally within consulting or a large organisation.
  • Strong capability in developing data-driven solutions and communicating with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Interest or experience in non-financial risk (e.g., regulation, privacy, cyber, financial crime).
  • Comfortable working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and supporting multiple project streams.
  • It is desirable if you're experienced and comfortable with the common tools and frameworks in this space. For our analytics and AI work, we use a combination of Alteryx, SQL, PowerBI, Tableau and Python, with frequent use of our GenAI tools. Familiarity with key data management frameworks (e.g. DCAM, CDMC, DAMA-DMBoK) is preferable, but no worries if you're not an expert in these; experience with other common analytics tools and frameworks is also fine.
