Job description

Imperial College London is seeking a proactive and organised Technical Services Administrator to join the ID Card Office within the Security and Community Safety Team, based primarily at the South Kensington Campus, with travel to other Imperial campuses as required.

You will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation and administration of Imperial's access control systems, ID card production, and technical security services. You will support the effective use, maintenance, and testing of security systems across Imperial, while delivering a professional, efficient, and customer-focused service to staff, students, contractors, and visitors.

Working closely with colleagues across Security, Property, ICT, and Estates Teams, you will contribute to maintaining a safe, secure, and well-managed campus environment that supports Imperial's world-class teaching, research, and operations.

What you would be doing

You will support the day-to-day administration of Imperial's access control systems and ID card services, ensuring accurate records and efficient service delivery across all campuses. This includes assisting with the addition of new card readers, covering the ID Card counter when required, and responding promptly and professionally to a high volume of enquiries from staff, students, contractors, and visitors.

You will work closely with various departmental to coordinate secure access arrangements and support the effective use of technical security systems. This will include assisting with the monitoring and regular testing of alarms and other systems to ensure they remain fully operational and deliver maximum value.

In addition, you will support Imperial's locks and keys service, helping to manage orders, distribution, recharging processes, and the maintenance of accurate records. Throughout your work, you will handle sensitive information in line with data protection legislation and Imperial policies, while delivering a courteous, flexible, and customer-focused service in line with Imperial's Values and Behaviours.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Presentation skills?, We are looking for a well-organised and dependable administrator with a strong customer service mindset and a proactive, "can-do" approach. You will be educated to A-level standard or equivalent or have relevant experience in a similar administrative or operational role, and be confident using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook to manage records, produce reports, and present information accurately.

You will bring excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise and multitask in a busy environment. You will be comfortable presenting statistical or operational information in a range of electronic formats and, where required, explaining this information clearly in person. You will also have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, use initiative, remain calm under pressure, and deal tactfully and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.
