Job description

As a Data-Focused Solution Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the evolution of applications and data warehouses. You will ensure that solutions are consistent with data challenges and architecture principles, supporting their implementation and aligning with ENGIE's governance and strategic objectives.

You will be at the forefront of shaping our digital landscape, working with key stakeholders to specify and design data applications and technology solutions that add and protect value for the organisation. Within the IT Department you will contribute to the design of the Information System architecture maintaining a transversal vision of data flows, to help coordinate and manage the implementation of specific applications solutions as part of project delivery and operational support.

What you will do

  • Design and implement cutting-edge data platforms, including data lakes, warehouses, and lakehouses
  • Lead the development of ETL/ELT pipelines for both real-time and batch data flows
  • Establish robust data quality, lineage, and compliance frameworks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize data pipelines and system performance
  • Advise senior stakeholders on technical strategies that deliver tangible business value, ETL & Data Integration
  • AWS Glue - Managed ETL service for batch and streaming data.
  • AWS DataSync - Data migration and transfer automation.

Data Warehousing & Analytics

  • Amazon Redshift - Cloud data warehouse for analytics.
  • Amazon Athena - Serverless query engine for S3 data.

Security & Governance

  • AWS IAM, AWS KMS, AWS Secrets Manager, Amazon Macie - Identity, encryption, and data protection.

Serverless & Orchestration

  • AWS Lambda - Event-driven compute for lightweight transformations.
  • AWS Step Functions - Workflow orchestration for data pipelines.

Azure

  • Storage & Data Lake

  • Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 - Scalable data lake for structured/unstructured data.

  • ETL & Data Integration

  • Azure Data Factory - Orchestration and ETL pipelines.

  • Data Warehousing & Analytics

  • Azure Synapse Analytics - Enterprise analytics and data warehousing.

  • Microsoft Purview - Data governance, cataloguing, and compliance.

  • Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB - Relational and NoSQL options.

Requirements

As a data-focused Solution Architect you will have deep technical expertise in data architecture and cloud platforms with strong governance, compliance awareness, and the ability to translate complex technical strategies into business outcomes. Leadership in design, delivery, and stakeholder engagement is critical.

Essential

  • 8-10+ years in IT or data architecture roles, with at least 4-5 years in solution/data architecture design.
  • Proven track record in large-scale transformation programmes and multi-cloud environments
  • Experience in regulated sectors (e.g., energy, financial services, public sector) is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with B2B processes and enterprise systems (ERP, CRM) is a plus.
  • ITIL experience
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence decisions at executive level and mentor technical teams

Desired

  • Business Analysis, Process Definition, Requirements Capture, Development Build & Test, and technical support.
  • Leading a team within a matrixed organisation
  • Supplier tenders and bid support.

General/ Personal Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation with the ability to deal with people at all levels within the organisation and from different nationalities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting, with the ability to presents complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences in a persuasive and convincing manner
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to understand the long-term and short-term perspectives of situations, to estimate the financial impact of information system alternatives and to apply multiple technical solutions to business problems.

Technologies and methodologies: Must have familiarity with core technology as follows:

AWS

  • Amazon S3 - Foundation for data lakes, scalable object storage.
  • AWS Lake Formation - Data lake governance and security., * Educated to a minimum of degree level
  • TOGAF Foundation
  • Software lifecycle, Project management and ITIL qualifications preferred.
