GMV is looking for a highly motivated Backend Developer to join the team at the Space Surveillance Centre (S3TOC), supporting the development, maintenance, and evolution of software platforms that provide Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST) services. GMV is a leading company in the space sector, particularly in SST and Space Traffic Management (STM). GMV engineers apply cutting-edge technologies to develop the solutions of the future. We are looking for software engineers who bring innovation, a proactive mindset, and, above all, passion for the technological challenges of the space domain. As part of the S3TOC engineering and operations team, you will contribute to large-scale projects for the processing and dissemination of space surveillance data, ensuring that operational systems are robust, scalable, and secure. These systems play a key role in collision avoidance, re-entry prediction, and debris mitigation, which are becoming increasingly critical due to the exponential growth of satellites and orbital debris. You will:
- Design, develop, and maintain backend components and microservices supporting SST operational platforms.
- Implement and optimize data processing pipelines, APIs, and databases to handle high-volume space object data.
- Ensure system performance, scalability, and cybersecurity compliance.
- Integrate backend services with front-end applications, analytical tools, and external data sources.
- Collaborate with DevOps, system administrators, and domain experts to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Support continuous integration, automated testing, and deployment processes.
- Contribute to the safe rollout and acceptance of new system releases and components.
Requirements
Do you have experience in XML?, We are looking for graduates in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunications (etc.) or demonstrable and solid experience in backend software development with background and interest in:
- Programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++.
- Experience with REST APIs and data exchange formats (JSON, XML).
- Knowledge of databases (SQL and/or NoSQL).
- Proficiency with version control systems (Git).
- Fluent in Spanish (C1 level minimum).
- Good command of English (C1 level minimum).
We will also value previous experience, and knowledge in:
- Web frontend development (React, Typescript)
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience in microservices architectures and frameworks (Spring Boot, Django, Flask, etc.).
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of message brokers/streaming platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Background in high-availability and distributed systems.Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins).
