Job description
We are now looking for a Senior Data Analyst / Data Engineer to help us stabilise, simplify, and evolve our data capability-someone who can both get their hands dirty today and shape where we go next.
This is not a "plug-and-play" analytics role. It's a chance to build foundations, influence how decisions are made, and work directly with the CEO to surface the real problems-not just report numbers.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Make data usable, trusted, and visible
- Take ownership of data quality, structure, and accessibility
- Identify and fix the biggest issues: data cleanliness, definitions, consistency, and single points of failure
- Create clear, reliable views of the business that people actually understand and use
- Turn complexity into clarity
- Translate complex, messy datasets into simple, digestible insights
- Build dashboards and analyses that tell a story, highlight trade-offs, and make problems visible
- Help non-technical stakeholders understand what matters, what's broken, and what to do next
- Partner directly with the CEO
- Work closely with the CEO to frame the right questions and reveal underlying operational and commercial issues
- Support decision-making with evidence, not noise
- Be confident challenging assumptions when the data says something uncomfortable
- Be hands-on while shaping the future
- Roll up your sleeves to write SQL, build pipelines, fix broken reporting, and create interim solutions
- In parallel, define a clear vision for the future: tooling, architecture, data ownership, governance, and how analytics should support the business as we scale
- Reduce risk and dependency
- Help move us away from single-person dependency
- Document data logic, definitions, and processes
- Create a more resilient, shared approach to data across teams
Requirements
Do you have experience in SQL?, Experience & Skills
- Strong experience as a Senior Data Analyst, Analytics Engineer, or Data Engineer (3+ years)
- Comfortable working in imperfect, fast-moving environments
- Excellent SQL skills and experience working across multiple data sources
- Experience building data models, reporting layers, and dashboards used by senior leadership
- Confident with modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Power BI, Airbyte-exact tools matter less than mindset)
Way of Working
- Calm, structured, and resilient-especially when things are messy
- Able to prioritise ruthlessly: not everything needs fixing at once
- Strong communicator who can explain data clearly, say "this is good enough for now," and push back when needed
- Comfortable operating without a detailed playbook
Benefits & conditions
- You see messy data as a problem to be solved, not a reason to disengage
- You enjoy building foundations, not just polishing finished products
- You care about impact, not just outputs
- You're as comfortable in a leadership conversation as you are writing code
What Success Looks Like
- The CEO and leadership team have clear, trusted views of the business
- Data conversations shift from "Can we trust this?" to "What should we do about this?"
- Key risks, bottlenecks, and trade-offs are visible early
- Data is no longer a single point of failure
- There is a credible, realistic roadmap for how data will support the business long-term
