Job description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Forensic Computer Specialist located in Birmingham. The selected candidate will be responsible for investigating and analyzing digital evidence, recovering data from computers and other electronic devices, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of information recovered. Daily tasks may include utilizing forensic tools, preparing detailed reports on findings, assisting in cyber incident investigations, and working closely with law enforcement or other security teams., * Conduct forensic acquisition and analysis of digital devices, including computers, mobile devices, storage media, and cloud platforms.
- Preserve digital evidence in line with ACPO / NPCC guidelines and UK evidential standards.
- Perform incident response investigations, including malware analysis, insider threat detection, and cyber breach investigations.
- Produce clear, defensible forensic reports suitable for legal proceedings.
- Testify as an expert witness where required.
- Maintain strict chain-of-custody procedures and forensic integrity of data.
- Use industry tools (e.g., EnCase, FTK, Cellebrite, X-Ways, Autopsy, Magnet AXIOM).
- Collaborate with legal teams, compliance officers, law enforcement, and internal stakeholders.
- Stay up to date with emerging threats, forensic methodologies, and regulatory developments.
- Assist in developing internal forensic procedures, policies, and best practices.
Requirements
Do you have experience in macOS?, * Proven experience in digital forensics, cyber investigations, or forensic analysis.
- Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, macOS file systems and artefact analysis.
- Experience with mobile forensics and cloud-based investigations.
- Understanding of UK legal frameworks around digital evidence and data protection (GDPR, CPIA, Criminal Procedure Rules).
- Experience writing forensic reports for legal or regulatory use.
- Familiarity with incident response and cyber security principles.
- Strong analytical thinking and meticulous attention to detail., * Degree in Digital Forensics, Cyber Security, Computer Science, or related field.
- Certifications such as EnCE, GCFE, GCFA, CHFI, CCE, CFCE, or equivalent.
- Experience working with law enforcement, legal teams, or regulated sectors.
- Knowledge of network forensics and memory forensics.
