Job DescriptionVMware vDefend Firewall Architect (Contract)Our client, a well-established VMware Partner and professional services organisation, is seeking an experienced VMware vDefend Firewall Architect to support a major security transformation programme within a large enterprise environment.Role & ResponsibilitiesYou will be part of an expert consulting team delivering two key workstreams:Advanced Threat Protection (ATP)Design and enable VMware vDefend Advanced Threat Protection featuresSupport IDS/IPS policy enablement and tuningAssist with malware prevention configuration and optimisationDevelop threat scenarios and advanced detection use casesSupport threat assessment, investigation, and evidence-chain analysisAssist with testing, validation, and Day 2 operational activitiesVMware vDefend Firewall (DFW)Assist with deployment of the vDefend Firewall platformSupport Distributed Firewall (DFW) policy creation and rule migrationDefine and scale policy structures and operating

modelsBuild security policies across Infrastructure and applicationsAssist with Identity Firewall configurationSupport logging, monitoring, visibility, and operational metricsAssist with capacity management and standardisation goalsSupport product upgrades, patching, and ongoing optimisationDevelop custom dashboards and reportingSkills & Experience RequiredStrong hands-on experience with VMware NSX/vDefend FirewallProven experience designing and deploying ATP/IDS/IPS solutionsExpertise in distributed Firewall policy design (Macro/Meso/Micro)Experience with logging, monitoring, and security visibility toolsAbility to support security investigations and attack life cycle analysisExperience operating in large, complex enterprise environmentsExcellent stakeholder communication skillsAdditional InformationRemote role (UK-based candidates only)An active security clearance is requiredImmediate or January 2026 availability preferred
