Job description

Avoira Ltd is a UK-based communications company that provides a wide range of services to customers across the UK and Europe. Within our Radio team, this post is for a Technical Lead Engineer to complement our existing engineering team and bring additional skills and resources to support our growing product portfolio and customer base.

This role requires an active involved in all aspects of system design, delivery oversight, and technical sign-off for Avoira's radio communication products. You will primarily act as the Technical Lead, liaising with customers and supporting our Project Management Office in delivering large-scale projects across the UK and Europe

Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Planning

  • Attend project calls and deployment meetings.
  • Interpret technical requirements and installation scope from customers.
  • Cascade requirements to internal engineers and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with PMO and deployment teams to ensure resource alignment.

Technical Oversight

  • Validate site survey outputs (heat maps, floor plans).
  • Identify potential pitfalls and blockers before installation.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards and customer specifications.

Site Engagement

  • Ensure site familiarisation
  • Conduct occasional site visits for complex projects.
  • Perform pre-installation checks and visual walkthroughs.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Gather engineering feedback and prepare close-out documentation.
  • Maintain technical records and ensure timely submission to customers.

Subcontractor Liaison

  • Communicate installation plans, cable runs, antenna placements.
  • Provide technical guidance and resolve issues on-site.
  • Assist with pre-sales support including system surveys, system design, specification, and documentation.
  • Design, and commissioning of all aspects of PMR, DMR, telemetry radio & microwave infrastructure.
  • Supporting and maintaining Motorola radio systems.
  • Liaise with customers in respect of system reporting, performance, and maintenance issues.
  • Prepare suitable and sufficient H&S documentation to meet customer requirements.
  • Maintain standards of technical excellence within the department.
  • Ensure a full understanding of products and services are cascaded through the organisation.
  • Contribute to bid support and evaluation.
  • Post-Sales support, including customer training.
  • Support and coach other members of the team
  • May be required to Participation on the standby rotas in the region
  • Ensure all documentation is completed and returned in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to at all times.
  • Actively seek and exploit earning opportunities for the company.
  • Any other reasonable duties and responsibilities considered appropriate by the management of the company.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driving Licence license?, Do you have a valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme Card, Construction Skills Certification Scheme certification?, Do you have experience in Organizational skills?, * At least 5 years' experience of the two-way radio communications industry including Motorola PMR, DMR, Tetra, Radio Telemetry or Microwave Systems

  • Knowledge, experience & understanding of IP based technologies including routing, switching and VoIP.
  • Experience of Distributed Antenna Systems, both Active and Passive, VHF, UHF, Cellular
  • Detection and resolution of RF interference & intermodulation
  • Cell Enhancer utilisation, commissioning and methods of limiting RF pollution
  • 2G/3G/4G in-building coverage techniques
  • EMF testing, calculations, and measurement to ICNIRP guidelines for OFCOM compliance
  • Proven experience of project design and management.
  • Competent to produce H&S documentation.
  • Able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Able to work under own initiative to deadlines.
  • Able to work away from home.
  • Ability to work as part of the existing team, also display high degree of autonomy
  • Willing to undergo security assessment/vetting
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ensure a right first-time approach is mandated in the department.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Valid UK Passport
  • Willingness to Travel in the UK and Europe

Desirable:

  • Experience of LV electrical systems installation & maintenance
  • Control & Automation/SCADA
  • Communications protocols & networks (TCP/IP, MODBUS, Profibus, RS232)
  • Trbonet / Windows Server / SQL Server proficiency
  • RF over Fibre experience, system design, and commissioning.
  • Duplexer, combiner & filter design & tuning
  • Able to work to component level
  • CCNA trained
  • PASMA traine
  • HNC Electrical/Electronics or equivalent experience
  • Confined space trained.
  • CSCS/EUSR/SHEA trained holding a current card.
