Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Design Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for concept development, design, research & innovation.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects, utilise advanced design tools, and apply a broad range of technical skills to solve complex engineering challenges.
Design Engineer Duties:
- Develop detailed designs and schematics for mechanical and electrical systems using CAD software such as SolidWorks.
- Develop creative technical solutions from concept stage through to final design.
- Ensure all proposed solutions meet technical requirements and align with business objectives.
- Produce accurate 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks.
- Participate in DFMEA processes and ensure recommended tests are incorporated.
- Manage engineering change requests and maintain compliance with internal systems.
- Work with suppliers to validate technical solutions and support procurement decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to create comprehensive system designs that meet project specifications and safety standards.
- Prepare technical documentation for review and approval.
- Support prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting activities during the product development lifecycle.
Requirements
Do you have experience in SolidWorks?, * Proficiency in SolidWorks and technical drawing standards.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with DFMEA and VA/VE methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to innovate.
- Strong communication skills for supplier and customer engagement.
- Educated to HNC level or above in Industrial Design/Product Design or an Engineering Degree with experience of using Solidworks and working with engineering drawings including tolerancing and DFM
