Job description

You'll be driving forward progress and innovation in our vehicle designs and production processes; this will include making incremental improvements to our well-established products as well as working to bring new vehicle designs from concept to reality. You'll work with the entire production team, to help bring positive change to our production process: driving down costs, improving quality and increasing reliability will be your challenges.

Key competencies we are looking for are

· Knowledge of manufacturing processes in an automotive environment

· Creation of BoMs

· Assisting in diagnosing problems and areas of improvement in the production line and providing recommendations for amendments.

· Creating solid parts, assemblies, detailed arrangements and drawings

· Mechanical engineering design experience

· Establishing safety procedures and protocols that take the workers' well-being into account, and that also minimize our carbon footprint.

· Keeping abreast of advancements in engineering and production and sharing knowledge with co-workers.

· Design for Manufacture & Assembly DFM/DFA Coaching, mentoring, and training

· Identifying, documenting, and reporting unsafe practices.

· Analysing all facets of production and making recommendations for improvement.

· Communicate effectively and efficiently; build strong relationships with cross functional departments.

· Assist in completing the homologation portion of the Whole Vehicle Approval project.

· Adhere to British and international standards.

· Undertake design work as per the requirements of the Technical Manager.

· Give support to other departments on engineering problems associated with the product range.

· Liaising with other engineers to develop plans that improve production, costs, and labour required.

· Obtaining any materials and equipment required.

· Commercial Awareness

· Teamwork and collaboration

Requirements

Do you have experience in Sheet metal?, Due to our growth and year on year increased demand from our customers, we are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking person to become part of our team as a Design Engineer in this newly created role. You will join our Production team becoming critical in the ongoing development of our established product range as well as design of new products., · Inventor (3D CAD)

· Vault (PLM Product Lifecycle Management)

· Excel

· Microsoft dynamics (NAV)

· ERP Systems

· Surfacing, sheet metal and/or FEA experience desired but not essential

· Engineering degree qualification or sufficient relevant experience in vehicle design

· Ability to carry out engineering calculations where your work requires (e.g. weight distribution, basic stress calcs)
