Job description

Are you passionate about turning data into actionable insights? Do you thrive on building reporting solutions that drive strategic decisions across an organisation?

Haldane Group is seeking an exceptional Business Intelligence Lead to own and elevate our business reporting function. This is a pivotal role where you'll serve as our BI subject-matter expert, working directly with the Chief Information Officer to shape how data drives decision-making across our group.

You will be the go-to person for all things BI, from developing dashboards that executives rely on, to empowering teams with self-service analytics. If you love the challenge of translating complex business needs into elegant technical solutions, this role offers the perfect platform to make a real impact.

What you will do

  • Own the BI Application
  • Be the primary subject matter expert for our Phocas BI platform
  • Design and build custom dashboards, measures, and data views
  • Manage system governance, user access, and security roles
  • Train and empower users to maximize self-service analytics capabilities

Drive Business Reporting Excellence

  • Develop, maintain, and optimise group-wide business reports and KPIs
  • Partner with stakeholders across Finance, Sales, and Operations to understand needs
  • Collate and validate data from multiple sources including ERP systems
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all business reporting
  • Manage both scheduled reporting cycles and ad-hoc requests

Lead Data & Analytics Strategy

  • Serve as the central point of contact for all BI initiatives
  • Collaborate across IT, Finance, Sales, and Operations to align data frameworks
  • Identify opportunities to enhance data quality, automation, and efficiency
  • Provide insights and recommendations that support business decisions
  • Drive continuous improvement in reporting speed, accuracy, and relevance

Champion Governance & Best Practice

  • Maintain documentation of reporting standards and data definitions
  • Establish and enforce data governance and BI best practices
  • Lead data projects including integrations and data model enhancements
  • Work with Phocas support to troubleshoot, test, and implement new functionality

Requirements

Do you have experience in Time management?, * IT or business-related 3rd level qualification OR 5 years business systems experience

  • Experience with Phocas or comparable BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik)
  • Strong understanding of reporting, dashboards, KPIs, and data modelling
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into technical BI solutions
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience of project work and cross-functional collaboration
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong time management and organisational abilities

Desirable:

  • Experience leading BI/reporting initiatives or managing a reporting function
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and data structures
  • Project management qualification (Prince 2, MSP, PMI, PPM)
  • SQL or database querying skills
  • Experience in merchanting, manufacturing, or distribution industries
  • Knowledge of project management life cycle
  • Natural questioning approach with focus on continual improvement
  • Comprehensive system and process documentation experience

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You are someone who gets excited about data. You see patterns where others see numbers. You can explain complex analytics in simple terms that everyone understands.

You are equally comfortable building a dashboard for the senior execs as you are training a team member on self-service reporting. You don't just deliver what's asked - you anticipate needs and proactively suggest better solutions.

You thrive on collaboration, working seamlessly with IT, Finance, Sales, and Operations. You are naturally curious, always questioning how things can be done better and when challenges arise, you solve them with a cool head and creative thinking.

Benefits & conditions

  • Strategic role with direct reporting to the Chief Information Officer
  • Opportunity to shape BI strategy across the entire Group
  • Collaborative culture with cross-functional exposure
  • Investment in your professional development
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Work with modern BI technology and tools
  • Make a tangible impact on business decision-making
  • Based in Northern Ireland with group-wide responsibility

About the company

Join a successful, growing organisation where your expertise will be valued and your impact will be visible. At Haldane Group, we're committed to using data to drive smart decisions, and as our BI Lead, you'll be at the heart of that transformation.
