Job description
As a Senior Backend Developer, you will help design, develop, and maintain the systems that keep Albion Online world running smoothly. You'll work on backend features and services that support millions of players, ensuring stability, scalability and performance across a continuously evolving live environment.
This role requires deep technical expertise, a proactive mindset and a passion for large-scale online systems. You'll collaborate closely with game developers and designers to deliver reliable tools, features and infrastructure that enhance the gameplay experience and support ongoing content updates.
- Architect and maintain high-throughput backend systems that power Albion Online's large-scale, persistent world
- Develop and optimize server-side gameplay features, live tools and real-time networking systems using C#
- Work with our Release Operations team to ensure smooth deployment of patches and content updates
- Ensure system reliability, performance and scalability across global regions and large player populations
- Implement monitoring and observability tools to improve issue detection and system resilience
- Collaborate with client engineers and game designers to integrate gameplay logic and backend functionality
- Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions and technical planning for feature growth and long-term system health
- Support and mentor other engineers, fostering a culture of technical pragmatism and performance
Requirements
Do you have experience in iOS?, * 5+ years of experience in backend or network programming for online or multiplayer games
- Strong proficiency in C# and experience with the Unity engine
- Proven experience with client-server architecture, game server logic and live game maintenance
- Solid understanding of database systems (SQL/NoSQL), cloud environments and distributed server infrastructure
- Experience with performance optimization, debugging, and profiling in large-scale systems
- Excellent communication skills (presentation, verbal and written) in English, * Experience working on MMORPGs or sandbox games
- Familiarity with Albion Online or similar persistent-world systems
- Understanding of live operations workflows, including event management, hot fixing and content rollout
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, monitoring tools and CI/CD pipelines
- Passion for games and player-driven online experiences
