Can lead the development of our WordPress & WooCommerce product suite as a senior engineer who thinks beyond code Enjoys solving real customer problems Has worked on production-level WordPress plugins or SaaS products Takes ownership of both development and troubleshooting You'll drive architectural decisions, mentor team members, and shape products that impact thousands of businesses. We're looking for someone who combines deep technical expertise with product thinking-understanding not just how to build features, but why they matter to customers. You will work closely with Development, Product, QA, and Customer Success teams to build, improve, and support FunnelKit's core products.
Key Responsibilities

Plugin Development & Product Feature Development Build and maintain WordPress plugins to extend site functionality and improve user experience Own architecture decisions for complex features across multiple products Work with the Product team to convert requirements into high-quality code Build custom solutions based on real customer use cases Ensure all features are properly tested and documented before release Mentor mid-level and junior developers through code reviews and pairing Lead initiatives that improve developer productivity and code quality Think creatively about technical challenges-finding innovative solutions Drive technical standards and best practices for the team

WooCommerce Integration & WordPress Hooks Develop custom solutions and features specifically for WooCommerce stores using WordPress hooks. Utilize deep knowledge of WordPress hooks (actions & filters) to extend core functionality and integrate with other plugins.

Troubleshooting & Release Stability Monitor product behavior after updates and releases Debug complex cross-system issues and performance bottlenecks Ensure smooth upgrades and backward compatibility Perform root-cause analysis to prevent repeat issues Resolve issues related to plugin conflicts, performance, and compatibility with WordPress and WooCommerce.

Product Improvement & Analysis Design scalable solutions that work across our product ecosystem Analyze L2 support tickets to identify patterns and gaps Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to implement improvements and evaluate technical feasibility and trade-offs

Git & Code Management Manage code using Git (commits, merges, releases) Maintain clean, scalable, and secure codebases Follow WordPress and WooCommerce best practices Conduct regular code reviews

AI-Assisted Development Use Cursor AI for code assistance, security checks, and snippet creation Improve development speed while maintaining high code quality Work closely with the development team to ensure smooth integration of plugins with existing systems Document technical decisions and create knowledge-sharing resources

QA & Test Case Collaboration Create clear use cases for QA testing Work closely with QA to ensure all features and fixes are thoroughly tested Reduce post-release bugs through strong pre-release validation

Internal Support to Customer Success Assist Customer Success Engineers with technical guidance Help resolve complex L1 issues when required Ensure recurring problems are documented and addressed at the product level Handle and resolve L2 support tickets for FunnelKit Checkout, Cart, and Bump Debug complex WordPress, WooCommerce, and plugin-related issues Provide fast, stable, and scalable solutions Identify recurring issues and propose long-term product improvements Coordinate closely with Customer Success Engineers

Requirements
Experience: 5+ years + AI mindset Education: Engineering candidates should only apply with relevant experience with WordPress and WooCommerce plugin/ product development (not theme customisation), 5+ years of hands-on WordPress development
Strong experience with: WordPress Core & Plugin Development WooCommerce internals and its ecosystem (APIs & customizations) WordPress hooks (actions, filters, and custom hooks) PHP mastery (expert-level OOP, design patterns and SOLID principles) Database proficiency - Advanced MySQL skills, query optimization, custom table design JavaScript, HTML, CSS
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills to resolve plugin related issues Security First - Expert in preventing SQL injection, XSS, CSRF; capability checks and input validation Experience working on product-based WordPress plugins or SaaS Strong understanding of orders, checkout flows, and extensibility points Proficient with Git version control and collaboration Performance Mindset: Experience optimizing slow queries, managing memory, and profiling Technical Leadership: Code review experience, mentoring ability, architecture decision-making Communication: Explains complex technical concepts clearly to different audiences Ability to work on-site from our Delhi office
Nice-to-Have Skills Payment gateway integration and debugging experience Background processing and job scheduling (Action Scheduler or similar) REST API design and development Multi-currency or internationalization experience Subscription/recurring billing systems knowledge Contributing to or maintaining open-source projects Experience building WooCommerce extensions Experience with checkout, cart, or conversion-focused products Familiarity with performance optimization and security best practices Experience using AI tools for development Candidates with hands-on experience in Agentic AI systems and working with Claude Code will be given preference.
