Job description

This role is responsible for the delivery, quality, and assurance of performance reporting for a large-scale national digital service. Working within a live service environment, you will own key reporting products, ensure high data quality standards, and provide trusted performance insight to senior leaders and ministers.

The role sits at the intersection of data, digital delivery, and cloud-based engineering, requiring both technical expertise and strong stakeholder engagement skills. Key Responsibilities

Reporting & Data Products

  • Lead the production and ongoing maintenance of the NDC report, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and continuous improvement as the service evolves.
  • Develop and maintain the national data publication for the App, ensuring it meets required standards for transparency, accessibility, and reuse.
  • Support and enhance the App Reporting Dashboard, the primary source of performance data for regional and local organisations.

Data Quality & Assurance

  • Own data quality checks, validation processes, and improvements to national reporting outputs.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues across multiple data sources.
  • Ensure reporting outputs align with agreed definitions, standards, and methodologies.

Briefings, FOIs & Stakeholder Support

  • Provide assurance for briefing requests and performance statistics used in ministerial and executive briefings.
  • Respond to FOI requests and internal data queries, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for performance insight across senior stakeholders.

Technical Delivery & Live Service Support

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of cloud-native data and reporting services.
  • Support DevOps practices to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of reporting platforms.
  • Work within Government Digital Standard principles to deliver secure, user-centred services.

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Experience working within the Government Digital Standard and live service environments.
  • Strong DevOps experience, including infrastructure as code.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform and cloud-native Azure development.
  • Experience developing in Python and working with modern Front End frameworks such as React and/or Next.js.
  • Experience with automated testing, including Python and Playwright.
  • Proficient in code version control using GitHub and GitLab.

Data & Reporting

  • Strong understanding of data quality management and national-level reporting.
  • Experience building and maintaining dashboards and data publications.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
