Job description

You'll be responsible for producing robust analytical products that support operational, clinical, and strategic decision-making. Working closely with analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders, you will ensure data is accurate, well-documented, and translated into meaningful insight - with a strong emphasis on geographical context., * Produce decision-ready outputs, including issue summaries, dashboards, reconciliation lists, and sign-off packs for senior stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to clearly communicate analytical findings.
  • Create clear, readable analytical documentation, detailing methods, assumptions, business rules, and limitations to support review.
  • Apply strong SQL skills to analyse datasets, validate results, verify transformation outputs, and assure data quality.
  • Work with geospatial data, including vector and raster formats, GeoJSON, and shapefiles.
  • Apply knowledge of coordinate reference systems (CRS) and spatial analysis workflows to ensure accurate interpretation of data.
  • Interpret local and regional geospatial insights and relate them to broader national trends and priorities.
  • Ensure consistency, integrity, and quality across multiple data sources.
  • Present insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst delivering decision-ready insight in complex environments.
  • Strong Power BI (or equivalent) reporting and data visualisation skills.
  • Advanced SQL skills for analysis, validation, and data quality assurance.
  • Demonstrable experience working with geospatial data and spatial analysis techniques.
  • Ability to document analytical work clearly so it can be reviewed, audited, and reused.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Must hold or be eligible for BPSS clearance.

Desirable

  • Experience working with NHS or public-sector data.
  • Familiarity with national health datasets and geographically referenced indicators.
  • Experience translating analytical outputs into actionable recommendations for senior decision-makers.
