Test Engineer

We are seeking a Test Engineer to join a client-side testing team responsible for developing and maintaining tooling used to support performance testing of a complex, message-based system. The role involves working with a JMeter-based load-generation platform, supported by a bespoke Java application used for capturing responses and producing detailed timing metrics. Experience with JMeter is essential., * Develop, maintain, and enhance tooling to support performance testing of a complex message-based system.

• Use a JMeter-based platform to generate load and simulate system behaviour under varying performance conditions.
• Work with a bespoke Java application to capture responses, record timings, and support detailed performance analysis.
• Create, refine, and maintain Python and shell scripts to automate testing activities and streamline result collection.
• Assist in analysing performance test results and identifying patterns, bottlenecks, or areas for improvement.
• Maintain and update Prometheus agents and Grafana dashboards used to monitor system performance during tests.
• Collaborate with the wider test and engineering teams to ensure accurate, reliable, and efficient test execution.
• Continuously seek opportunities to automate manual processes and optimise testing workflows using suitable tools and technologies.

• Must be a UK National with a minimum of 5 years' residency
• Hands-on experience with Java
• Strong capability in JMeter (essential for performance testing)
• Experience with shell scripting
• Working knowledge of JIRA
• Familiarity with Confluence
• Experience using Python for automation or tooling
