Job description

The Musculoskeletal Bioengineering Laboratory, led by Prof. Dr. Tristan März, is an interdisciplinary research group focused on understanding the pathophysiology of arthritis. Our work integrates in vitro models across diverse cell types and in vivo models of joint injury and inflammatory arthritis to elucidate inflammation and fibrosis-relevant mechanisms that lead to joint disease. Our overarching goal is to identify and target novel molecular mechanisms underlying inflammation and tissue degeneration, with the long-term objective of developing novel disease-modifying therapies., We are seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatics Scientist / Data Scientist to conduct multi-omics data analysis. This individual will play a key role in analyzing high-dimensional biological datasets, developing and maintaining bioinformatics pipelines, and collaborating closely with experimental scientists to translate computational findings into biological insight. This position is well-suited for candidates ranging from M.S.-level scientists with relevant experience or early- to mid-career PhD-trained researchers seeking an independent and impactful role in an academic research environment., * Lead and support multi-omics data analysis across in vitro, in vivo, and clinical datasets

  • Maintain, improve, and develop reproducible bioinformatics pipelines
  • Integrate computational analyses with experimental and clinical data to generate biologically meaningful insights
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging computational methods and apply them to ongoing research questions
  • Communicate results effectively within the lab and to broader scientific audience

  • PhD with 0+ years of postdoctoral or equivalent experience

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency in R and Python (MATLAB experience is a plus)
  • Ability to analyze high-dimensional bioinformatics datasets, including multi-omics data (e.g., transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, spatial or single-cell data) using existing pipelines
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance, optimize, and extend existing computational pipelines, as well as design and implement new workflows
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and implement methods from current bioinformatics and computational biology literature
  • Experience using and maintaining GitHub repositories for version control and collaborative development
  • Familiarity with conda environments, Jupyter notebooks, and R Markdown for reproducible research

Domain Knowledge:

  • Background or strong interest in genomics, musculoskeletal biology, inflammation, tissue degeneration, or related biological systems is highly desirable

Preferred Skills & Attributes:
