Job description

Our client, a well-established and growing professional services organisation, is seeking an experienced IT Operations Engineer to join their IT team based in Warrington. This is a hands-on, operational role responsible for maintaining secure, stable, and high-performing IT systems while delivering high-quality support across head office and branch locations. You will play a key role in infrastructure support, service management, security compliance, and continuous improvement of IT operations.

As IT Operations Engineer, you will:

  • Provide onsite (Warrington HQ) and field-based IT support to branch offices
  • Participate in the IT rota to ensure 8am-5pm operational coverage
  • Manage the full lifecycle of service desk tickets (incidents, problems, changes)
  • Install, configure, and maintain computing hardware and software
  • Manage secure user access and permissions (least privilege model)
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose system issues, performing root cause analysis
  • Work with third-party vendors and hosted infrastructure providers
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and asset records
  • Communicate system changes, releases, and operational issues to stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with data protection standards and ISO27001 policies This role requires strong ownership, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining operational excellence across the IT environment.

Requirements

  • 1+ years' demonstrable experience in IT support, systems administration, or IT operations
  • Strong experience supporting Windows environments (desktop & server)
  • Experience managing hardware, software deployments, and secure access controls
  • Solid understanding of IT service management processes (incident, problem, change)
  • Experience liaising with third-party vendors and infrastructure providers
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to documentation
  • Awareness of GDPR, ISO27001, and data security best practice
  • Professional, customer-focused, and personable approach
