Job description

We are seeking an experienced Oracle DBA to support a critical Legacy application environment. This role focuses on deep-dive analysis of Oracle 10g and 11g databases, associated dependencies, and backup/recovery posture, producing a clear and actionable assessment report. This is a fully remote contract supporting a highly audited organisation., * Analyse existing Oracle Database 10g and 11g environments, including architecture, configuration, storage, and interdependencies.

  • Assess Oracle Application Server components and their impact on database backup, recovery, and service restoration processes.
  • Review current backup strategy (including tape backups) and evaluate potential alternatives such as cloud-based solutions.
  • Examine data flows, dependencies, and operational risks associated with Legacy systems.
  • Define required Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).
  • Produce a detailed report outlining findings and recommended steps for implementation., * Strong hands-on experience with Oracle 10g and 11g (essential for supporting Legacy systems).

Requirements

  • Proven background in analysing existing Oracle environments-not only implementing new ones.
  • Experience working with Oracle Application Server and understanding its interaction with Oracle databases.
  • Deep knowledge of RMAN, archive logging, and database restore/recovery scenarios.
  • Strong understanding of backup and recovery design principles, including RTO/RPO considerations.
  • Experience working within heavily audited or regulated environments (desirable).
  • Ability to identify risks arising from tightly coupled application/database architectures (desirable).
