Job description

Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function - Barratt Partnerships. To fully support Group Head of Infrastructure and Utilities in developing and delivering new consistent processes and procedures in the infrastructure and Utilities to housebuilding sites. This work will include making recommendations on behalf of the Group Head of Infrastructure and Utilities, the person will also have responsibility to assist in responding to Government consultations/white papers and report writing. You will:

  • To assist in new consistent methodology for Divisions to procure all utility services to sites.
  • To assist operational Divisions where there may be sites with particularly difficult utility infrastructure and to provide the simplest and cost-effective solutions.
  • To assist operational Divisions to incorporate, remove or divert utilities on certain developments which are difficult and costly.
  • Assisting the Group Head of Infrastructure and Utilities and operational Divisions to reassess utility infrastructure costs on completed or on-going developments and where possible contest costs and recover costs from utility companies retrospectively.
  • Assist Group Head of Infrastructure and Utilities in working with government agencies where new policies and procedures in a range of utility areas are being developed to ensure they are both practical and affordable from a housebuilders perspective.
  • Consider ways and procedures to develop seamless adoptions of highways, sewers and public open space on developments in the shortest possible timescales.
  • To liaise with infrastructure providers, trade associations and regulatory bodies

Requirements

Do you have experience in Revit?, * Educated to HNC/HND level in a construction related qualification.

  • Extensive experience
  • Good organisation and task management skills.
  • A good technical knowledge of current regulations and associated legislation.
  • An eloquent communicator interfacing with Divisional teams, sites and regulatory bodies.
  • Customer focused.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • A competent level of relevant IT skills including using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as a minimum.
  • Use of Revit and AutoCAD would be of advantage.
  • Regular UK travel including overnight stays is essential to deliver the role
