Job description
As a Power Systems and Integrator (f/m/d) of Power Electronic Devices, you will be at the forefront of modeling and analyzing the dynamic behavior of high-voltage AC power grids in conjunction with advanced power electronic systems. Your work will ensure that grid-connected converters for energy storage and generation comply with evolving grid codes and support grid-forming capabilities essential for the energy transition. Your work will directly contribute to the realization of high-efficiency, high-reliability systems for grid integration, and industrial applications. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to define architectures, validate concepts, and drive innovation from research to product deployment., * Develop and validate detailed simulation models of high-voltage AC grids and their interaction with power electronic converters (e.g., MMC, VSC)
- Analyze dynamic grid behavior under various operating conditions, including fault scenarios and disturbances in frequency and voltage
- Evaluate compliance with international and regional grid codes (e.g., ENTSO-E, IEEE, BDEW) and support certification processes
- Design and assess control strategies for grid-forming and grid-following converter-based resources
- Collaborate with hardware, control, and system engineering teams to ensure integrated system performance and support R&D projects
- Document findings and contribute to technical publications, standards, and internal knowledge bases, while collaborating with experts for seamless hardware-software co-design
Requirements
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or a related field
- Strong background in power system simulation and power system dynamics
- Proven experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or EMTP
- Familiarity with grid code requirements and compliance testing for converter-based systems
- Knowledge of grid-forming inverter concepts and their role in future power systems
- Analytical mindset, structured working style, and strong communication skills; fluent in English, with German language skills at C1 level appreciated
