Job description

We are looking for a skilled Network Engineer to join our technical team. You will play a key role in helping design, deploy and supporting secure, high-performance network and wireless solutions for clients across education, healthcare, construction, public sector and leisure.

This role includes a blend of office work, field-based installations, and remote support.

You will represent the company on customer sites, ensuring our solutions are delivered to the highest standard.

You will be responsible for leading the installation and maintenance of our networking solutions at client sites, including but not limited to:

  • Enterprise Grade WiFi and networking solutions - Experience with Ruckus, Aruba and Cisco ideally
  • Switching - Experience with Ruckus, Aruba and Cisco ideally
  • Firewalls & Routers
  • WAN / SD-WAN Connectivity, Network Design & Architecture:
  • Conduct Wi-Fi surveys and produce survey reports.
  • Evaluate and recommend networking hardware and software solutions.
  • Create and maintain network diagrams, solution designs, and technical documentation.

Implementation & Configuration:

  • Install, configure and maintain switches, firewalls, routers, wireless LAN, VPN, and SD-WAN technologies.
  • Deploy enterprise-grade Wi-Fi solutions (Ruckus, Aruba, Cisco).
  • Perform firmware updates, patches and routine network maintenance.

Monitoring & Optimisation:

  • Monitor network performance, analyse traffic patterns, and optimise configuration.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks, connectivity issues and stability problems.
  • Implement QoS, VLAN segmentation and traffic shaping policies.

Troubleshooting & Support:

  • Provide Level-2 network support to clients.
  • Diagnose and restore service during outages.
  • Work with other IT teams, ISPs, and vendors to resolve complex issues.
  • Maintain detailed incident records and client documentation.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and client stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex networking concepts clearly to non-technical users.

Requirements

Essential

  • CCNA, Network+ or equivalent industry certification.
  • Proven experience as a Network Engineer in a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with Ruckus, Aruba or Cisco wireless and switching.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, VPN and routing fundamentals.
  • Experience with firewalls (Fortinet, WatchGuard, Cisco or similar).
  • Proficiency with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and clear communication skills.
  • Ability to work with non-technical users and adapt explanations accordingly.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Experience with SD-WAN solutions.
  • Knowledge of Wi-Fi survey tools (Ekahau preferred).
  • Experience working on construction or temporary site networks.
  • Additional vendor certifications (e.g., Ruckus RCSC, Aruba ACMA/ACMP).
