As a Network Engineer / ICT Network Administrator you will combine hands-on technical engineering with network management and critical incident response, helping to deliver business continuity, hardware redundancy and secure remote access across multiple sites. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to infrastructure projects, network optimisation and digital resilience within a forward-thinking and community-focused environment., Your duties as the Network Engineer / ICT Network Administrator include:
- Network Infrastructure Management: Configure, maintain and optimise routers, Layer 2 and 3 switches, firewalls, gateways and access points
- Security & Cyber Resilience: Deploy security patches, monitor alerts and ensure secure configuration aligned to best practice
- Routing & Switching: Manage IP schemas, VLANs, QoS, VPNs, VOIP and site-to-site connectivity
- Wireless & Remote Access: Ensure reliable WiFi, secure remote access solutions and resilient inter-site communications
- Firewall & UTM Configuration: Maintain and configure firewalls using a security-conscious approach
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor network performance and resolve faults using appropriate diagnostic tools
- Documentation & Change Control: Maintain accurate network diagrams, documentation and configuration backups
- Collaboration & Support: Work closely with system administrators, desktop support and third-party providers
- Business Continuity Planning: Ensure redundancy, hardware resilience and effective disaster recovery procedures
- Safeguarding Commitment: Report concerns appropriately and support safeguarding responsibilities
Requirements

Industry networking qualification such as CCNA or similar

Full UK driving licence

Excellent knowledge of routers, Layer 2 & 3 switches, firewalls, gateways and wireless networks

Strong experience configuring and maintaining Cisco switches

Excellent knowledge of VLANs, network security and secure configuration standards

Proven experience of creating resilient networks and business continuity solutions

Experience with routing, VPNs, VOIP and network monitoring tools

Previous experience in network documentation and producing detailed infrastructure diagrams

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy environment DESIRABLE

Recognised networking qualifications beyond CCNA

Knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration

Experience with Radius, 802.1x and access control systems

Knowledge of intrusion detection systems

Welsh language skills (verbal and written)
