Job description

At Serco, we are proud to partner with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) in providing critical recruitment services for the UK's Armed Forces. This new approach will, for the first time, see the Royal Navy, the British Army, and the Royal Air Force have a joint Armed Forces Recruitment Service (AFRS). Delivered through a partnership with the MOD, Serco, and our consortium of partners, this service will provide end-to-end support from candidate attraction to assessment, onboarding, and preparation for attending Phase 1 training.

Serco is seeking a Solution Implementation Manager to take ownership of specific elements of the Armed Forces Recruitment Service (AFRS) solution, ensuring designs move seamlessly from concept to execution.

You will operate within a complex multi-partner environment, leading the delivery of robust, scalable solutions that meet client requirements, contractual obligations, and operational needs. This role combines solution ownership, delivery leadership, technical expertise, and stakeholder engagement.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Define and ratify core principles of assigned solution components.
  • Translate high-level designs into actionable implementation plans, including digital, process, and operational workstreams.
  • Oversee configuration and integration of technology platforms to meet operational requirements for the solution component
  • Support commercial negotiations and provide technical input to ensure solutions are cost-effective and achievable.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance solution effectiveness, leveraging emerging technologies.
  • Work closely with SDA/TDA, programme leadership, consortium partners, and external vendors to manage dependencies and timelines.
  • Act as the gatekeeper for prioritisation and alignment across specific workstreams related to specific solution elements

Requirements

Do you have experience in TOGAF?, * Proven experience in solution design and implementation within complex programmes.

  • Track record of managing sub-contractors and multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with digital platforms and integration strategies
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in solution direction or solution leadership roles in large organisations.
  • Understanding of enterprise architecture principles and frameworks (TOGAF, MODAF or similar).
  • Exposure to business development or solution shaping (non-sales/commercial).
  • Familiarity with recruitment or large-scale service delivery environments.
  • Commercial acumen, including cost-benefit assessment and contract negotiation support.
