Job description

We're working with a Technology business that delivers data-led projects for public sector and infrastructure clients. They are looking for a Data Engineer to keep multi-stream projects on track through clear communication, strong organisation, and reliable delivery., This role suits someone who enjoys structured project delivery, hybrid working, and being trusted to manage moving parts independently. You'll have flexibility to work remotely, with three days per week in the Skipton office, and will join a business with a culture built on trust, flexibility, and creating a positive, supportive working environment. The team values collaboration, openness, and continuous improvement, and encourages people to take ownership of their work and contribute ideas.

You will report to a Projects Manager and coordinate activity across analysis teams, delivery managers, and clients. The work spans planning, documentation, stakeholder updates, and risk management, ensuring projects meet agreed schedules and KPIs. You will also play an active role in improving how projects are delivered, through better processes, tooling, and technical support.

A key focus of this role is providing strong technical support to the projects team. You will act as a subject-matter expert in Python and SQL, supporting script writing, data checks, and continuous improvement of processes and systems used across the project lifecycle., * Manage day-to-day client coordination, triage queries, and ensure timely responses via meetings, email, and the support desk.

  • Schedule and run structured project meetings, capturing agendas, actions, and minutes.
  • Plan and prioritise work orders across teams, maintaining clear timelines, dependencies, and trackers.
  • Monitor progress against milestones and produce concise weekly status updates covering KPIs, risks, and next steps.
  • Oversee imagery and data workflows, ensuring correct metadata, completeness, allocation, and timely outputs to analysis teams.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and file structures, including plans, trackers, notes, and reports.
  • Identify emerging risks or delays and escalate to the Project Manager within agreed tolerances.
  • Support the projects team through Python and SQL scripting, data validation, and automation where appropriate.
  • Drive continuous improvement by proposing and implementing enhancements to processes, templates, tools, and technical workflows, acting as a go-to person for system and data queries.

An ideal candidate brings a calm, organised approach, clear communication, and the confidence to facilitate meetings and keep stakeholders aligned. You will be proactive, detail-focused, and comfortable switching between planning, technical problem-solving, and client updates.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Time management?, Do you have a GCSE?, * At least 2 years' experience in project coordination or project delivery within a structured environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of Python and SQL, with experience supporting scripting, data checks, or process automation.
  • Confidence acting as a technical subject-matter expert to support project teams and improve ways of working.
  • Familiarity with GIS or mapping tools and spatial data concepts.
  • Strong organisation and time management across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, confident leading client meetings.
  • Ability to interpret data outputs and spot inconsistencies with strong attention to detail.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset with a focus on ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with literacy and numeracy to GCSE level.

Benefits & conditions

Salary: £33,000 - £35,000 depending on experience.

Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm or 9am - 5pm (Hybrid 3 days in the office)
