Job description
As the sole Network Engineer in the business, you will work directly alongside an experienced Network Architect. You won't just be maintaining legacy systems; you will be at the heart of greenfield installations and complex network transformations.
- Implement & Deliver: Take architected designs (LLDs) and bring them to life across diverse customer environments.
- Fortinet Specialist: Lead the configuration and deployment of FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, and SD-WAN solutions.
- Collaborate: Act as the technical bridge between design and reality, providing Fortinet-specific input to the Architect.
- Autonomy: Manage your own workload in a fast-paced, project-driven environment where your expertise is trusted.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driving License license?, Do you have experience in VPN?, SC Clearance required if successful (UK or dual national)

We are working with a fast-growing, agile technology disruptor based in Derby. They partner with high-profile blue-chip customers across the UK to deliver cutting-edge network transformations. As they continue to scale, we are looking for a dedicated Network Engineer to take full ownership of our network implementations., We value proven, hands-on ability. You should have 5+ years of experience operating at a CCNA or Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP) level.
Must-Haves:
- Deep Fortinet Expertise: Practical experience with FortiGate HA, FortiLink, MCLAG, FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer.
- Networking Core: Strong mastery of TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF/BGP routing, and VPN technologies.
- Project Delivery: A track record of delivering greenfield deployments and producing high-quality "as-built" documentation.
- Location & Mobility: Based in or near Derby, with a full UK driving licence for occasional travel to customer sites and data centres.
- Security Clearance: You must hold current SC Clearance or be eligible and willing to undergo the process (requires meeting UK residency requirements).
Nice-to-Haves:
- Formal certifications (NSE4/FCP, CCNA/CCNP).
- Experience with Cisco LAN or Cloud networking (Azure/AWS).
- Background working in regulated or SC-cleared environments.
