Job description
Mehdiward require an IT Technician to join our small IT support team. This job would suit someone with prior work experience or someone with technical knowledge/qualifications and an interest in software development, but without an established track record.
We need someone who is hardworking, eager to learn, and an adaptable team player. In this varied role your time will be spent maintaining and supporting in-house and client systems. You will be involved in phone, email and on-site support, and in the management of existing networks and systems. You will also be asked to research new products for our own use or for our clients. There is a strong focus on cybersecurity, but the work also includes general system support. Full training will be provided, but demonstrable technical aptitude is essential.
Maintenance and support of WordPress websites will be part of the duties, as well as the potential for web development work and support of the Moodle virtual learning environment. Web work will include content management.
You are expected to work in the office 5 days a week. Core working hours are 9:30-17:30 with one hour for lunch. You will on occasion be required to work outside working hours or the weekend, but this is the exception, not the norm.
Duties
- Provide user support (desk side and remotely)
- Software support and upgrades
- IT Security monitoring, implementation and backup checks
- Carry out diagnostics and health checks
- Network and printer support
- WordPress web site maintenance and (possibly) development
- Moodle web site maintenance, content management and (possibly) development.
Requirements
Do you have experience in WordPress?, Candidates must have demonstrable experience within an IT support role, particularly in the following areas:
- Some experience in technical support and IT support roles
- An interest in software and web development, especially mainstream web technologies
- Strong software troubleshooting abilities
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Familiarity with computer networking and desktop support
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and VPN technologies
- Understanding firewalls, VPN technologies and computer hardware components
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery and PHP useful but not essential
