Job description

GEODIS is deploying an ambitious strategic plan, "Ambition 2027," to support the Group's growth and digital transformation. This digital transformation relies on a robust data foundation, enabling multiple data and AI use cases and implementations. The GEODIS Data Layer is the technical platform supporting this data foundation. The Head of Data Platform will manage the Data Platform Engineering team and will report to the Chief Architect Officer.

  1. Her/his main responsibilities are:
  • Head of Data Platform is the owner of the Data Layer, GEODIS' Data Platform and its entire ecosystem (Databricks, Starburst, Dataiku, Astronomer and more).
  • S/He is the Data Layer product owner and is therefore responsible for the product vision, roadmap and versioning.
  • S/He manages product usage and drives the evolution of the platform based on Group Data Strategy, Data Layer users' community feedback, best practices and business requirements.
  • S/he manages the Data Platform Engineering team, responsible for all aspects of Data Layer administration (including cloud infrastructure management, SaaS or PaaS administration, and middleware management).
  • S/he implements and monitors FinOps indicators, makes the adjustments required accordingly, and anticipates appropriate actions to align with budget allocations in coordination with the D&T FinOps team
  • S/he maintains a high-level, cross-functional view of projects and data use cases to anticipate resource consumption
  • S/He acts as a facilitator with Data Engineering teams during their development and implementation activities in the Data Layer
  • The Head of Data Platform interacts on a regular basis with Enterprise Architecture Data Architects to align the Data Layer product evolution with overall Enterprise Architecture strategy, market trends and news usage requirements.
  • S/he ensures, together with the team, that the platform is properly monitored and supervised at the required level of quality (including topics implemented by LoBs and/or Regions).
  • As the Data Layer Product Owner, s/he defines and communicates the platform roadmap, release plan, versioning and operational calendar

Requirements

Do you have experience in Spark?, Do you have a Master's degree?, * Degree from an Engineering school or in Computer Science with a minimum of 5-10 years of experience as Lead Administrator or Head of SRE Team with a focus on Data Platform Management.

  • Expertise in CI/CD pipeline management (build/run)
  • Experience and knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and containerized architecture.
  • Experience with both micro services Architectures / Event Driven Architecture and with relational and non-relational databases / distributed databases.
  • Expertise with event sourcing and event streaming. Specifically, with technologies like Change Data Capture, Kafka, Spark, and Stream processing technologies

  • Confluent Cloud (Apache Kafka)

  • S/he possesses strong communication skills and is committed to transparent communication.

  • S/he is familiar with and an advocate of Scrum/Agile/DevSecOps methodologies.

  • You should:
