Job description
As an IT Infrastructure Engineer (Support Team/Tech Lead), you will provide technical leadership within maritime projects and programmes.
Day-to-day, you'll work with project managers, and principal engineers to deliver a secure high performance compute environment for analysis and modelling in the maritime domain. This will involve engagement with relevant internal and external customer and stakeholders along with interpretation of customer requirements to allow for the research, design and development of solutions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide effective technical leadership and support to the business both in delivery or programmes and bidding activities
- Provide technical assurance by understanding and interpreting the appropriate technical standards that comply with statutory, regulatory, company and project specific processes and procedures
- Understand the market requirements and future technology developments and apply them to technical solutions whilst aligning to the company business drivers
- Support the development of IT staff in the Technical Disciplines and support resourcing decisions
- Responsible for the development of Design Certification, Technical Delivery Plans, High Level Documentation, Detailed Design Documentation, Testing schedules at component, system and user levels, Experimental plans, Technical Roadmaps and Technical reports and presentations
Essential experience of the IT Infrastructure Engineer:
- Senior IT Server Infrastructure Engineering experience, including Networking & Virtualisation)
- Experienced IT engineer within programmes improving business delivery through technical excellence by performing a variety of project, bid and investment tasks
- Demonstrable attributes in leading a project and team to deliver complex IT environment capabilities
- Responsible for developing and growing IT and a willingness to extend your knowledge in HPC practices and delivery in line with the requirements of the business
- Working knowledge and understanding of the Linux operating system and services
Requirements
- A degree in an applicable Science or Engineering subject or equivalent industry experience
