Infrastructure Virtualisation Engineer - SC cleared

As an Infrastructure Virtualisation Engineer, you'll work within the core virtual estate supporting vital Defence projects. Your expertise will influence the backbone of the NSoIT(D) Platform, ensuring the design, build, and validation of virtualisation components aligns with security and performance standards.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Designing, developing, and validating virtualisation components such as VMware ESXi, vSAN, vCenter, NSX, and Horizon
• Producing detailed design artefacts and supporting system testing
• Collaborating with Service Management to troubleshoot and resolve virtualisation issues
• Supporting system resilience, cross-site failure measures, and high availability configurations

Essential skills and experience:

• Minimum of 3 years' proven experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting VMware virtualisation solutions
• In-depth knowledge of VMware ESXi, Distributed Virtual Switches, vSAN, vCenter, NSX, and Horizon with AppVolumes and AppStacks
• At least one recent professional Virtualisation certification, e.g., VMware VCP or similar
• Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to solve complex problems effectively
• Valid SC Security Clearance
• Competency in MS Office Suite

Desirable skills include:

• Public sector or Defence environment experience, especially within Defence Digital
• Delivering secure, accredited solutions in the UK Public Sector
• Familiarity with Agile (SAFE4) and Waterfall project methodologies
• Large-scale virtualisation infrastructure experience
• Knowledge of networking certifications such as CCNA or VMware NSX-DC
• Educational backgrounds at Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or comparable fields
• Experience developing secure architectures in multi-tenanted environments
• Chartered Engineer status is an advantage
