Job description
The Infrastructure Virtualisation Engineering team is responsible for the design, development, build and validation of the core virtual estate forming part of a secure, multi-site platform environment.
The role includes production and review of design artefacts, support to system testing activities, and resolution of complex infrastructure issues in coordination with service management.
Requirements
Do you have experience in vCenter?, To be considered for this role, candidates must demonstrate a minimum of three years' industry experience with detailed practical knowledge in the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of the following:
VMware ESXi
- Distributed Virtual Switches
- Distributed Resource Scheduler
- Distributed Power Management
VMware vSAN
- Hybrid storage configurations
- All-flash storage configurations
VMware vCenter
- High Availability
- Clustering
- Cross-site failure handling and resiliency
VMware NSX
- Microsegmentation firewalling
- Cross-site vCenter NSX configurations
VMware Horizon
- AppVolumes
- AppStacks
In addition, candidates must have:
- At least one professional virtualisation certification obtained within the last five years, such as VMware VCP or equivalent.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capability.
- Active SC clearance.
- Competency in the Microsoft Office suite.
Desirable Skills, Qualifications and Experience
The following experience is advantageous:
- Delivery experience within UK public sector environments.
- Experience delivering accredited secure solutions within UK government environments.
- Experience working within Agile and Waterfall delivery models.
- Experience supporting large-scale virtualisation infrastructures operating at enterprise scale.
- Working knowledge of Jira and Confluence.
- Networking certification such as CCNA or VMware NSX-DC, or equivalent networking experience.
- Degree-level education in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Experience developing secure architecture within multi-tenanted environments.
- Chartered Engineer status or working toward professional registration.
