Job description
This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a dedicated network operations team, ensuring high standards of network performance and resilience through active monitoring, installation, documentation and design of a wide range of networking technologies, both wired and wireless. All of which underpin the boards patient-centric care services across the region., * Work as part of the Digital and IT Network Operations Team to ensure a consistent, high-quality service is delivered.
- Maintaining product specific network infrastructure, for example Cisco access layer switching, core routing and wireless access points.
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of the current wired and wireless network technologies and technology trends to maintain awareness for digital operations.
- Design new wired and wireless infrastructure for new builds or redevelopments of existing buildings all of which are varying construction types.
- Ensuring all systems have appropriate security controls in place.
- Create network operational documentation and procedures related to work area and complete requests in accordance with policy and procedure requirements., AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application-but your answers must be your own.

Requirements
- Knowledge of networks and/or infrastructure (protocols, design concepts, access control, resiliency)
- Knowledge of network infrastructure technologies (routing, switching, wireless, varying ISP circuit provisions)
- Experience of network infrastructure tools (monitoring, configuration, performance testing)
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to keep calm during potentially stressful situations.
- A genuine curiosity and willingness to learn new skills and research new ideas.
- Verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organisation.
- Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships throughout the organisation
- Strong customer service skills, excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work on a wide range of issues.
- Understand IT operational support frameworks including incident management and service level agreements.
- Be positive, empathetic, enthusiastic, and confident to represent the Digital and IT Operations and infrastructure, along with NHS Lothian Values.
Benefits & conditions
Salary: £26,104 - £32,915 per annum. Placement on salary scale is dependent on confirmation of previous relevant NHS service., * A competitive salary and benefits.
