Job description

The Network Engineering Service supports the technical team responsible for the design, development, documentation, build and validation of core physical and virtual networking components forming the backbone of a secure, multi-site platform environment.

The role includes production and review of formal design artefacts, support to system testing activities and resolution of complex network issues in coordination with service management.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, build and validate networking components within a secure, multi-site environment.
  • Produce and review High Level Designs, Low Level Designs, implementation documentation and configuration standards.
  • Implement and manage hierarchical IP subnetting structures.
  • Configure and troubleshoot internal and external routing protocols including OSPF and BGP.
  • Deploy and maintain enterprise routers, switches and firewalls.
  • Implement and support the following core technologies:
  • Cisco Nexus platforms
  • Cisco IOS XE
  • Leaf and Spine network architectures
  • VXLAN overlay networks
  • Dual Cloud Dual Hub DMVPN solutions
  • Firewall IPS/IDS
  • AAA management platforms such as ISE
  • Configure and manage TRL crypto devices, including key material management.
  • Design and implement Quality of Service mechanisms including traffic shaping, policing, scheduling, congestion management and avoidance.
  • Support wider system testing activities.
  • Work with Service Management to resolve network-related incidents and defects.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Waterfall?, * Minimum three years' industry experience with detailed knowledge and hands-on experience in the design, implementation and troubleshooting of:

  • Hierarchical IP subnetting
  • OSPF and BGP
  • Enterprise routing, switching and firewall platforms
  • Cisco Nexus
  • Cisco IOS XE
  • Leaf and Spine architectures
  • VXLAN overlays
  • Dual Cloud Dual Hub DMVPN
  • Firewall IPS/IDS
  • AAA platforms such as ISE
  • TRL crypto configuration and key management
  • Full QoS configuration and optimisation
  • Professional certification obtained within the last five years such as:
  • CCNP or equivalent networking certification
  • VMware VCP-NV
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Active Security Clearance (SC).
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within secure or regulated public sector environments.
  • Experience supporting defence-related networks and secure gateways.
  • Experience delivering accredited secure solutions.
  • Experience working within Agile and Waterfall delivery models.
  • Experience operating large-scale virtualisation environments.
  • Working knowledge of JIRA and Confluence.
  • Degree-level education in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Experience designing secure multi-tenanted network architectures.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working toward professional registration.
