- Designing, modeling, and implementing complex LAN, WAN, intranet, extranet, and cloud-based network solutions supporting mission-critical systems
- Performing detailed network-capacity and performance analyses, developing long-term network-architecture roadmaps, and integrate security controls into every layer of the design
- Researching emerging networking technologies, recommending hardware and software platforms, and ensuring all designs comply with DoD cyber-policy (RMF, NIST 800-53, CNSSI 1253, etc.)
- Cooperating with government program officials, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver secure, resilient, and scalable network infrastructure, Travel Requirements:
- Domestic travel: Up to 10 % of the year (approximately two weeks) for site visits, security assessments, or briefings at other DoD locations
- International travel: Infrequent, typically less than 5 % of the year, only when needed for coordination with overseas partners and subject to clearance approval
Requirements
Do you have experience in WAN?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, network engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related technical discipline from an ABET-accredited or CAE-designated institution *
- Alternative qualification: Completion of any of the listed DoD/Military training modules (e.g., 4C-FA26A, M09CHN1, A-531-0009, A-531-0045, or the combination ACQ 160 + ISA 220) may be used in place of the degree

- CISSP, CISM, CISA, or any equivalent credential recognized by the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework
- Minimum three productive years of full-time experience performing the duties of a Computer Network Architect (Advanced) or equivalent on-the-job training that satisfies the DoD CSWF Advanced criteria, experience must include:
- Designing, modeling, and implementing large-scale DoD or federal network infrastructures (LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, cloud-connected networks)
- Conducting network capacity, performance, and security analyses
- Integrating security controls (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, segmentation) into network designs
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Create end-to-end network architectures that meet mission requirements and DoD policy
- Perform network modeling, traffic analysis, and capacity planning
- Evaluate, select, and recommend hardware/software platforms
- Incorporate cyber-risk mitigation measures into network designs
- Communicate technical concepts and design rationale to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
