Job description
The size and complexity of the project requires particular attention to ensure compatibility is maintained in light of emergent changes to the many various elements of work, changes to the Client's requirements and the impact of these on the many interfaces to third-party stakeholders and the other HS2 works Costain are required by HS2 in the works information to deliver. As a Configuration Engineer, you will be responsible for producing and maintaining technical baselines, communicating changes to relevant stakeholders, coordinating, and managing their assessment, to feed into the Change and Mitigation Panels to facilitate authorisation and implementation of changes.

Provide configuration management across all of HRS02 activities via
Supporting the engineering team in identifying Configuration Item candidates, Formally registering the configuration for the scope of HRS02 Registering the Standards Baseline and placing the contract requirements (including the CTRB, WI, System Safety and NTSNs) under configuration control and maintain this control, Authoring the Configuration Management Pan and associated procedures (Change Control Procedure, Configuration Accounting Procedure, Physical Configuration Audit Procedure and Functional Configuration Audit Procedure Brief, train and record competencies of non-experts (engineers at large) in configuration activities including recording of change impact assessments. Act as Configuration Authority in Change Control Boards Cooperate with IM and BIM to support data exchanges with the client's CDE Propose, Develop, Automate and Report metrics on configuration management For the project lifecycle, plan key configuration activities such as developing plans and processes, creating baselines, and planning regular checks, updates, and audits of the configuration state. Coordinate regular engineering change panel meetings, capture minutes, decisions, and actions; and update associated registers; coordinate formal reviews and submission of Change control documentation. Communicate and review changes to baselines, including agreement of derogations or Non-conformances to the agreed configuration, and coordinate with relevant stakeholders and subject matter experts to facilitate their assessment. Prepare and deliver regular briefings to promote awareness of the change and configuration management process and activities within the project team. Contribute to the continued improvement of the change and configuration management processes and systems. Collate and provide relevant / necessary information necessary for Assurance. Requirements
Do you have experience in Microsoft Office?, Extensive Experience of the application of configuration / change management processes in major projects including the application of relevant ISOs; Knowledge and experience of the regulatory environment and statutory obligations relating to major rail infrastructure / construction projects or equivalent; Capable of working collaboratively and effectively with project delivery teams, management and the project leadership, clients, sub-contractors, regulatory bodies and other major stakeholders, credible in building relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholders; High standard of verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, able to effectively communicate technical concepts to variety of audiences; Awareness of the various disciplines involved in delivering major railway projects, their roles and responsibilities. Good information management and analytical skills, able to quickly and efficiently seek out the relevant and pertinent points from large volumes of project information. Experienced in the use project information tools and management systems including MS Office and web-based collaboration technologies for project information and process management, such as Enterprise Bentley, ProjectWise or similar.

Familiar with configuration management in Systems and Software Engineering to current standards.

Benefits & conditions
HS2 is Great Britain's new high-speed railway. Once operational, HS2's trains will provide journeys between Birmingham and London, with services continuing on to Manchester, the North West and Scotland using the conventional railway. The new route comprises 140-miles of track, four stations, two depots, 32 miles of tunnel, and 130 bridges. The first HS2 services will run between Birmingham Curzon Street and Old Oak Common in London between 2029 and 2033.
HS2 are in the process of procuring c12 railway systems contracts, in excess of £4b, for the design, supply, construction, test & commissioning and maintenance for the route between London and Birmingham
The Costain+ Team has successfully pre-qualified and now tendered Package 2: Tunnel and Lineside Mechanical & Electrical Fitout, and awaits an award notification in Q2 2024. The scope of delivery is:
