Job description

We are seeking a strategic and technically proficient Cloud Platform Tech Lead to drive the design, automation, and governance of Elexon's multi-environment cloud foundation. This role will lead the implementation of a centralised landing zone architecture, subscription governance, infrastructure-as-code pipelines, and cost optimisation frameworks-ensuring alignment with Elexon's IT and enterprise architecture strategy.

What you'll do:

  • Design and automate consistent landing zones across Dev, Test, Prod, and DR environments.
  • Implement hub-and-spoke network topology using Azure Virtual WAN, Firewall Manager, and NSGs.
  • Lead deployment of Azure AD DS, Private DNS zones, and remote access integration.
  • Build and maintain a versioned Terraform module library for reusable infrastructure components.
  • Define and enforce naming conventions, tagging standards, and policy-as-code pipelines (OPA/Rego).
  • Develop multi-stage CI/CD pipelines supporting full-stack and targeted deployments.
  • Integrate static code analysis (Checkov, SonarQube) and chaos testing (Azure Chaos Studio).
  • Develop chargeback dashboards using Cost Management APIs and Power BI.
  • Lead compliance scans and real-time drift detection pipelines.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Terraform?, * Proven experience designing and implementing cloud landing zones and network topologies in Azure.

  • Strong proficiency in Terraform, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions), and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Deep understanding of Azure governance, policy enforcement, and subscription management.

Desirable:

  • Interest in learning about the GB electricity market and Elexon's role within it
