Job description

The Satellite Systems Engineering Department from OHB-System AG is looking for intern to develop Cybersecurity for Satellite Systems. The goal of the internship is to investigate Threat-led penetration testing and to define Security monitoring for space systems. The intern will be fully integrated in the Security systems engineering Team. In 2025, the European Commission proposed the EU Space Act to introduce a framework for safety, resilience and sustainability. All space systems are then considered as critical infrastructure. The investigation will be based on existing databases of tactics, techniques and protections for Space assets (esa Spaceshield and ATTACK).

Your Tasks

  • Acquire the required space mission knowledge, by study the existing literature and interfacing to the current system security team
  • Analyse current threats and potential vulnerabilities, leveraging existing threat catalogues dedicated to space missions
  • Define potential attack scenarios
  • Propose and develop realistic scenarios testing security
  • Identify detection techniques and forensic investigations

Requirements

Do you have experience in Systems engineering?, * Studying to a degree in engineering, information technology, or equivalent

  • A previous experience or studies cursus in Cybersecurity, RF and digital communication, Software Defined Radio
  • A previous experience with Python or C++, GNU Radio, HackRF One, RTL-SDR are beneficial
  • Ability to work independently and pro-active working style
  • Very good communication skills
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English. German and other language skills advantageous. Duration: minimum 4 months
