Design Engineer

Our client is a well established manufacturing business that supplies products to some of the UK's largest infrastructure projects. Due to expansion, our client is looking to recruit a Lead Product Design Engineer to join their team. As a Lead Product Engineer you'll be delivering new product designs and product improvements that meet customer, business, and manufacturing requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to major product development projects and multiple smaller initiatives.
• Deliver product designs through concept, design, prototyping, testing, and pre-production stages using stage-gate principles.
• Ensure designs are process-capable, repeatable, and compliant with industry and customer requirements.
• Support packaging development, including materials selection, specifications, supplier engagement, and testing.
• Work closely with manufacturing to optimise production and packaging solutions.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and workload coordination for engineers and project team members.
• Facilitate cross-functional communication and structured problem-solving.
• Support project planning, risk management, and prioritisation activities. For this role your client is looking for someone who has:-

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relatable experience
• Previous experience in Product Design or Development
• Proficient in 3D CAD software (Inventor preferred).
• Experience in managing projects with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time
• Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. This role is a hybrid role based in Derbyshire - the ability to commute to the Derbyshire office is essential. Benefits include company pension, life assurance, access to onsite facilities, free parking and development opportunities.
